In a significant humanitarian effort, the Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endowment has contributed 10,000 winter packages, containing 70,000 pieces of clothing and heating supplies, as part of the “Winter Clothing” initiative launched under Operation “Faris Al Shahem 3.” This initiative aims to support one million beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip, alleviating the struggles faced by families during the harsh winter conditions.
Community Engagement and Volunteerism
Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations for Operation “Faris Al Shahem 3,” stated to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the packaging event took place at Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities. The event witnessed extensive student and community participation, with volunteers playing a crucial role in preparing the aid for dispatch to Gaza. Al Afari highlighted that this engagement embodies the values of solidarity and generosity, showcasing the important role of youth, educational institutions, and humanitarian organisations in bolstering relief efforts.
A Commitment to Humanitarian Aid
The endowment’s contribution to the “Winter Clothing” initiative reaffirms the UAE’s enduring commitment to assisting those in need and providing relief to affected populations. Al Afari emphasised the continuous dedication to meeting the essential needs of the Palestinian community.
Significant Humanitarian Support
To date, the total humanitarian aid provided to the Gaza Strip has surpassed 131,000 tonnes, with an overall cost of $4.16 billion. This figure represents 46% of the total humanitarian aid delivered to the region globally. Al Afari expressed profound gratitude to all organisations participating in and supporting these humanitarian efforts.
