The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority is taking significant steps towards water conservation in the Emirate of Sharjah by launching a new initiative aimed at reducing water consumption in residential homes. The latest phase of this initiative targets the Maghayer district, where the Authority plans to install water-saving devices in 2,000 homes.
Building on Previous Success
This initiative follows a successful implementation in the Al Rahmaniya district, where over 14,000 water-saving devices were installed in 4,000 homes. This effort has already led to a remarkable reduction in water usage, with consumption decreasing by as much as 59%.
A Vision for Sustainable Resource Management
Majid Hareem Al Shamsi, the Executive Director of Institutional Support at the Authority, explained that the ongoing water-saving initiative is part of a broader vision set forth by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The goal is to install more than 750,000 water-saving devices across over 45,000 homes in various cities and regions throughout Sharjah.
Promoting Environmental Sustainability
Al Shamsi emphasised that this initiative is not solely about reducing water consumption but also aims to enhance environmental sustainability and cultivate a culture of responsible resource use among the community.
As these efforts continue, the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority remains committed to promoting efficient resource management and environmental stewardship across the emirate.
