Sharjah Civil Defense Launches Proactive Low-Risk Facility Certifications

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has announced the proactive and automatic issuance of “Certificate of Compliance with Fire Safety Conditions” for low-risk establishments. This initiative, which leverages business licence data, will commence immediately upon the issuance or renewal of such licences in accordance with approved procedures and requirements.

Enhancing Digital Services

This move reflects the authority’s commitment to improving its digital services while simplifying processes and enhancing the efficiency of government operations. It aligns with Sharjah’s vision for integrated and forward-thinking digital services.

Streamlined Process for Establishments

The new service allows business owners to obtain a Civil Defence compliance certificate without needing to submit a separate request. Certificates will be issued automatically based on data linked to the business licence, provided that the regulatory requirements for certain licence types are met. This automation significantly reduces the steps required by users and streamlines the transaction process.

Supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy

This initiative supports the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028, which aims to digitise and enhance government services for improved user experiences. The strategy is designed to bolster institutional performance and facilitate sustainable digital transformation across government agencies. This context also highlights the authority’s effort to enhance collaboration with partners involved in these services.

Contributing to Bureaucracy Reduction

Additionally, the initiative aligns with the “Zero Bureaucracy” programme launched by the government to simplify and reduce unnecessary procedures. By reengineering government processes through the use of technology and artificial intelligence, this programme aims to ease individual lives and support the business environment.

According to Major General Youssef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, the launch of this service marks a significant advancement in the authority’s digital transformation journey. He stated, “We are dedicated to developing our services based on a vision that places the user at the heart of the development process, transitioning from a model reliant on separate applications to a more efficient, proactive service model that automatically fulfills requirements to save time and effort, thereby improving the client experience.”

Future-Oriented Safety and Efficiency

Al Shamsi further emphasised that digital transformation is a fundamental element in enhancing the safety and efficiency of the Civil Defence system. By employing modern data and technology, the authority aims to offer more flexible and interconnected services that promote a competitive business environment. This model promotes a balance between streamlined processes and the adherence to top safety standards.

The service mechanism relies on the connection between business licence data and approved protocols for issuing the Certificate of Compliance with Fire Safety Conditions. This integration allows for automatic fulfilment, thereby reducing the need for clients to navigate separate steps. This model is crucial in improving data accuracy and operational efficiency, showcasing the authority’s commitment to utilising digital solutions for enhancing government services and fostering a safe and sustainable business environment.
