Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has completed a natural gas connection project for Dibba Al Hisn at a total cost of AED 35 million, in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to implement an integrated project delivering natural gas services to the city in accordance with the best standards.
Three parallel project components
The natural gas delivery project for Dibba Al Hisn was carried out through three main initiatives implemented in parallel. These included the construction of a natural gas pumping station operating under the virtual pipeline system, alongside the installation of a 46-kilometre natural gas network.
The network covers Al Hai Al Shamal, Al Hai Al Gharbi, Al Hosn Island and Al Doub district. The project also included internal connections for around 200 residential units, with smart meters installed to ensure direct gas supply to subscribers and improve the efficiency of consumption management and measurement.
Strategic move towards clean energy
Engineer Ibrahim Al Balghouni, Director of the Natural Gas Department at Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, said the project forms part of the authority’s strategic plan to provide clean and sustainable energy for all cities and areas across the Emirate of Sharjah, and contributes to sustainable development in Dibba Al Hisn.
He added that the project was implemented using the latest technologies and specifications, with control and monitoring systems in place to ensure the safety and continuous flow of gas around the clock.
Safer and more economical than cylinders
He pointed out that natural gas offers a safe, economical and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gas cylinders, helping to reduce carbon emissions and support environmental sustainability.
