UAEs Tax System Embraces Digital Transformation Innovations

In an era where digital transformation is pivotal for economic growth, Abdulaziz Al Mulla highlights the development of a sophisticated tax system in the UAE that aligns with the demands of this transformation. The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has made significant strides in integrating advanced technologies into its processes, ensuring that the UAE remains competitive on a global scale.

Participating in SPIEF 2026

The Federal Tax Authority showcased the UAE’s digital transformation journey at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026) held in Russia, themed “Pragmatic Dialogue: Path to a Stable Future.” This event saw a diverse gathering of government leaders, decision-makers, and business experts from around the world.

During the forum, Abdulaziz Al Mulla, the Director General of the FTA, participated in a panel discussion alongside Daniil Igorev, the Director General of the Russian Federal Tax Service. Their session, titled “Tax Authorities: Creating a Business-Friendly Environment and Ensuring Transparency for Implementing Countries,” emphasized the UAE’s efforts in advancing its tax system through the adoption of cutting-edge digital solutions.

Highlighting the Digital Tax System

The discussion covered several key topics, including the evolution of the UAE’s tax system and its commitment to international best practices. Specifically, it outlined the shift towards digitalization within the FTA, exemplified by the Emirates Tax digital platform. This modernization includes the tourist tax refund system, which has expanded to cover e-commerce, further ensuring that the tax framework remains relevant and effective.

Abdulaziz Al Mulla reiterated the UAE’s dedication to developing an advanced tax system that keeps pace with the requirements of digital transformation. He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing operational efficiency within the tax system. The FTA employs AI technologies across various tax activities, notably in processing reconsideration requests from taxpayers and in identifying advanced analytical risk drivers. Such initiatives are part of an integrated framework comprising 48 initiatives outlined in a three-year roadmap for AI implementation.

Strategic Vision for the Future

Al Mulla stated, “The FTA continues to leverage modern technologies to enhance its services and processes, aligning with the UAE government’s forward-looking vision.” This commitment is pivotal in boosting operational performance and providing innovative, proactive services to stakeholders.

Moreover, the UAE’s participation in the forum underscores its commitment to strengthening its international presence. Engaging in the exchange of best practices and experiences with global governments and institutions serves to support the objectives of the “We are the UAE 2031” vision, positioning the country as a significant global partner and a leading economic hub.
