The Gulf Statistical Center has highlighted the prominent economic indicators in the UAE as part of a special report commemorating the 54th National Day of the United Arab Emirates. This edition showcases various social and economic achievements that reflect the UAE’s robust standing in the region and globally. From leading rankings in social cohesion to ambitious future plans in technology and sustainability, the report outlines how the UAE continues to chart its path toward economic diversification and innovation.
Social Cohesion and Economic Diversification
According to the report, the UAE ranks first regionally and seventh globally in social cohesion, underscoring the strength of its social fabric. The country’s economic plans are clearly defined, focusing on diversifying income sources and developing a knowledge-based economy. By 2031, the UAE aims to leverage artificial intelligence as a cornerstone of development, alongside strategic initiatives aimed at ensuring food and water security through 2036 and 2051. These initiatives are complemented by the establishment of smart cities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah, all aligned under a horizontal plan extending to 2040.
Technological Advancements and Global Competitiveness
The report outlines the UAE’s significant strides in global competitiveness, achieving the fifth position in overall competitiveness for 2025. Notably, the country has secured leadership in 223 indices according to the latest competitiveness reports, with mentions in the top five globally for 444 indicators. Furthermore, the UAE holds the tenth spot worldwide in soft power and has been ranked first globally in entrepreneurship for four consecutive years. This impressive performance reflects both the country’s strategic investments in technology and its initiatives to foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Investment Powerhouses and AI Transformation
Highlighting the role of the UAE’s sovereign wealth funds, the report indicates that they are among the strongest investment arms globally, extending beyond wealth management to secure future economic strength. The transition from a smart government to a society powered by artificial intelligence has seen the UAE lead in telecommunications infrastructure and rank second in AI readiness for 2025. Furthermore, the UAE accomplished a historic milestone with its first government transaction using the “digital dirham,” marking a significant leap in digital governance.
Commitment to Renewable Energy and Space Exploration
The UAE’s commitment to renewable energy is underscored by over 600 billion dirhams allocated for sustainable energy initiatives by 2050. The National Hydrogen Strategy, which targets the production of 15 million tons by 2050, demonstrates the UAE’s ambition to be at the forefront of global energy transformation. The country has also emerged as a significant player in the space sector, with the Hope Probe successfully reaching Mars—the first Arab mission to the red planet. Future projects, including the exploration of the asteroid belt by 2028 and the Mars settlement project by 2117, position the UAE as a key player in international space exploration.
