UAE Airports Reach Record High of 108.59 Million Passengers

The remarkable statistic of 108.59 million passengers highlights the significant role that UAE airports play in global aviation. As the country continues to enhance its competitiveness in the civil aviation sector, this impressive number reflects the ongoing growth and influence of Emirati airports on the economy. In the first nine months of 2025, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah airports reached unprecedented milestones, setting the stage for an anticipated total of nearly 159 million travelers by year’s end.

Record-Breaking Performance Across Major Airports

During the nine-month period ending September 2025, Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed approximately 24.29 million passengers. This figure includes a remarkable influx of 8.49 million travelers recorded from July to September alone. The positive results can be attributed to strategic growth initiatives at Abu Dhabi airports, including the introduction of new destinations. For instance, Jazeera Airways resumed flights to Abu Dhabi, enhancing connectivity between Zayed International Airport and Al Ain International Airport with Kuwait.

Key Developments in Abu Dhabi’s Aviation Strategy

The past year also saw Abu Dhabi airports diversify their airline network. Notable additions included Eastern Air, which launched daily services to Shanghai, Seychelles Airlines offering six weekly flights, and Ethiopian Airlines initiating daily flights to Addis Ababa. These new connections significantly contributed to the surge in passenger numbers, strengthening the operational base of Abu Dhabi’s bustling airports and underscoring their potential for future growth.

Dubai Airport’s Stellar Performance

Dubai International Airport, another aviation powerhouse, reported exceptional results with 70.1 million passengers during the same period. Impressively, the airport shattered its own quarterly passenger traffic record, accommodating 24.2 million travelers from July to September 2025—a 1.9% increase compared to the previous year. Over the twelve months leading up to September, Dubai International’s passenger count hit a historic high of 93.8 million, clearly establishing the airport’s status as a global travel hub.

Sharjah Airport Continues to Shine

Sharjah International Airport also experienced notable operational success, recording around 14.2 million passengers in the first nine months of this year. This achievement reinforces the airport’s significance both locally and internationally. In the third quarter of 2025, Sharjah reported a 16.7% growth in passenger traffic, with 5,127,120 travelers compared to 4,392,000 in the corresponding period of 2024. The number of scheduled and unscheduled flights also rose to 30,737, marking a 10.7% increase from the previous year.

The strong figures of 108.59 million passengers across UAE airports serve as a testament to the resilience and growth of the Emirates’ aviation sector. With continuous enhancements in connectivity and service offerings, the future looks bright for air travel in the region, ensuring that these airports maintain their leadership on the world stage.
