Sharjah Homes Enhance Sustainability with 750000 Water-Saving Devices

In an ambitious effort to promote sustainable water usage, the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has launched a significant initiative aimed at installing 750,000 water-saving devices across 45,000 homes in Sharjah. This project aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and responsible resource management. The installation process has commenced in the Al Rahmaniah area, reflecting SEWA’s commitment to reducing water waste and utility bills at no cost to residents.

Specialized Teams Mobilized for Installation

As of July 4, 2026, SEWA has activated a specialized team to implement this crucial initiative in Al Rahmaniah. The current focus is on installing water-saving devices in 4,015 targeted homes, with completion expected by the end of July. Majed Harmeel Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Institutional Support at SEWA, explained that the organization has developed a detailed action plan and timeline for the project. He emphasized that this initiative not only aims to enhance environmental sustainability but also seeks to instill a culture of responsible resource use among citizens.

Comprehensive Strategy and Implementation

The initiative is supported by over 12 specialized teams equipped with the necessary tools and technology to ensure the successful rollout of the project. Al Shamsi elaborated that SEWA’s comprehensive strategy includes the establishment of a robust database of target homes, budget allocation, and a strict implementation timeline. Each team consists of qualified technicians who will work closely with homeowners to secure approvals for assessments and installations. The teams will utilize top-tier specifications during the fitting of these water-saving devices, which have been meticulously selected and tested.

Community Engagement and Awareness

Communicating with the community plays a pivotal role in this initiative. Rashid Al Marzooq, Director of Media and Communication at SEWA, highlighted key actions that yield a successful rollout. These include conducting surveys to measure resident satisfaction, overall evaluation of the initiative, and preparing a final report on the water savings achieved. Additionally, SEWA plans to host events at commercial centers, distributing informative materials that educate residents on effective water-saving practices and the maintenance of the devices installed in their homes.

A Call to Action for Residents

SEWA encourages all residents to participate actively in this initiative, collaborating with the specialized technicians who will facilitate the free installation of water-efficient devices. The authority also urges homeowners to address any leaks in their plumbing systems and to foster a culture of conservation among their families. As water is often referred to as the essence of life, the importance of conserving it is not only a civic responsibility but also a moral obligation. Through this extensive initiative of installing 750,000 water-saving devices in 45,000 homes in Sharjah, SEWA is laying the groundwork for a more sustainable future.
