As part of its Ramadan activities, the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah announced the organization of 15,000 lessons and lectures in the first half of Ramadan. These events represent a concerted effort to enhance religious awareness in the community through a wide range of activities that target all segments of society. The program includes not only lessons in mosques but also awareness lectures and live sessions via digital platforms, reflecting the dynamism and effectiveness of activities during this holy month.
Diversity of Educational Activities
The Islamic Affairs Department reported that it organized approximately 14,850 lessons and lectures in the emirate’s mosques during the first half of the holy month of Ramadan, in addition to 40 lectures in government institutions and 30 lectures and sermons via live broadcast. These activities are part of the Ramadan preaching program, which aims to enhance spiritual values for all community members.
Community Response and Fatwa Inquiries
During the same period, the Fatwa Center received 1,850 fatwa requests and legal inquiries from the public via the toll-free number (8001441). This significant interest indicates the community’s desire to explore more about religion and religious obligations, highlighting the importance of these events.
Religious Educational Content
The lessons and lectures focused on clarifying the rulings, etiquette, and virtues of fasting, as well as addressing the daily jurisprudential issues faced by fasting individuals. These lessons rely on the department’s book “The Radiant Pearls in Ramadan Lessons,” which adds a unique touch to the learning experience. The lectures also include interpretations of Quranic verses, elucidating the meanings and ethics contained within them.
Community Trends and Moral Values
The preaching programs included awareness lectures on the merits of charity, the importance of charitable work, and social solidarity during Ramadan. These lectures aim to promote values of selflessness and giving, contributing to the spread of a collective spirit during the blessed month.
Expanding the Religious Message
To expand its outreach, the department allocated 95 mosques to organize lessons in multiple languages, such as English, Urdu, and Malayalam, to meet the needs of non-Arab communities. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to providing inclusive religious content that caters to all residents in the emirate.
The organization of 15,000 lessons and lectures in the first half of Ramadan in Sharjah is not merely a statistic; it reflects the department’s dedication to disseminating religious knowledge and enhancing community awareness. Through partnerships with local media institutions, the Islamic Affairs Department extends its efforts to spread these messages, increasing the community benefit of these activities.
