Transformative Energy Initiatives Paving Sharjahs Sustainable Future

In Sharjah, the demand for energy is continuously rising, prompting a robust response from local authorities. The initiative titled 15 New Projects to Meet Energy Demand in Sharjah showcases a significant commitment to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the energy network. This proactive approach includes plans for ambitious projects intended to support future growth and development in the emirate, emphasizing the integration of renewable energy sources and the enhancement of infrastructure.

Strategic Projects for Sustainable Energy

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has confirmed its ongoing implementation of ambitious projects aimed at bolstering the efficiency and sustainability of its energy transmission network. As part of the initiatives under the 15 New Projects to Meet Energy Demand in Sharjah, the Authority achieved notable strategic milestones in 2025, including the construction and operational commencement of eight high-performance electricity transmission and distribution stations.

Engineer Hamad Al-Tunji, Director of the Energy Transmission Department, emphasized that the Authority is committed to executing energy transmission projects following best practice standards. This effort aligns with the visionary directives of Sharjah’s leadership, ensuring that all necessary resources are in place to provide top-tier services to the residents of the emirate.

Infrastructure Development and Community Impact

The Energy Transmission Department continues to enhance the electric network’s infrastructure, ensuring its sustainability, efficiency, and reliability to serve the community and vital sectors within Sharjah. This initiative is a core component of the 15 New Projects to Meet Energy Demand in Sharjah, reflecting a dedication to meeting the growing energy needs of the population.

Engineer Abdullah Al-Kous, Deputy Director of the Energy Transmission Department, noted that the achievements include integrating the solar energy plant operated by the Sharjah Oil Company into the electrical grid. This integration not only enhances the incorporation of renewable energy sources into the power infrastructure but also significantly boosts the reliability of the electricity supply.

Major Infrastructure Enhancements

In adherence to engineering governance and quality control measures, the Energy Transmission Department meticulously reviewed and approved 867 engineering plans for substation projects and network development throughout 2025. Additionally, a major milestone within the framework of strategic projects is the operational launch of the 220 kV airport station, which stands as the largest electricity transmission station in the emirate. This facility serves as a significant improvement to the network’s capacity and operational flexibility.

The series of developments under the 15 New Projects to Meet Energy Demand in Sharjah underscores a comprehensive strategy to not only meet current energy demands but also to position Sharjah as a leader in sustainable energy solutions within the region.
