Majority of Emirati Graduates Enter Private Sector Workforce

The “Nafes” program has revealed remarkable achievements in employing Emirati graduates, contributing to the employment of 58% of these graduates in the private sector annually. This reflects the increasing demand for employment in this field. The program has also achieved 92% of its targets over four years, confirming the effectiveness of its strategies in enhancing Emirati participation in the labor market. This article explores the details of this strategy and how “Nafes” supports graduates and empowers them for professional success.

Nafes Strategy for 2026

The Council for Competitiveness of Emirati Talent is adopting a new strategy for 2026, focusing on developing innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing citizens’ journey from early education stages to employment. These initiatives include expanding partnerships with the private sector to prepare national talent for future jobs. According to the Secretary-General of the Council, Ghanem Al-Mazrouei, the private sector has seen a significant increase in the number of Emiratis employed, with a total of 157,000 citizens, achieving 92% of the goals set since the program’s launch in September 2021.

Nafes Achievements and Historic Milestones

One of the most significant successes announced is the increase in the employment rate of graduates in the private sector, which has reached 58%. This success demonstrates the effective transformation of the “Nafes” vision into tangible reality. Al-Mazrouei also noted that the number of citizens registered with the Pension Authority and funds has increased by 245% between 2022 and 2025. Notably, the number of private sector companies providing job opportunities for citizens has grown significantly, rising from 7,000 companies to over 30,000 companies.

Partnerships to Enhance Education and Employment

“Nafes” collaborates with the Ministry of Education and the Central Bank to implement various training programs in fields such as engineering and the automotive sector. This collaboration demonstrates the program’s commitment to developing the necessary skills for students, facilitating graduates’ effective entry into the labor market. Additionally, training programs for future leaders are being offered, underscoring the ongoing development of Emirati competencies.

Reducing Token Emiratization and Stimulating Employment

Despite challenges, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has successfully reduced instances of token Emiratization by over 70% in 2025, through tightening oversight and raising awareness of the impacts of such practices. The ministry has also emphasized ensuring the rights of citizens through smart monitoring and follow-up systems, aiming for genuine and sustainable Emiratization that reflects the aspirations of program participants.

Initiatives to Support Special Needs Groups

The “Nafes” program has not overlooked providing support for people with disabilities, announcing the employment of 1,650 citizens with special needs over the past two years. This focus demonstrates that the program encompasses all community segments and provides them with the necessary opportunities to engage in work that aligns with their capabilities. This reflects the state’s determination to achieve inclusivity in the labor market.

Future Opportunities in the Health Sector

“Nafes” has announced the opening of 1,000 new job opportunities for citizens in the health sector, in collaboration with a number of leading institutions in this field. These opportunities aim to enhance youth readiness and secure their professional futures in sectors that require advanced skills. Strengthening national competencies contributes to supporting the UAE’s vision of building a sustainable community based on human investments.

Database to Support Decision-Making

The General Authority for Pensions and Social Security, in collaboration with the “Nafes” program, aims to establish a comprehensive national database to serve decision-makers in planning for future jobs. This step enhances connectivity between various markets and their needs, contributing to improving the quality of employment through tailored services based on available data analysis. The number of insured individuals has made significant progress over the past four years, reflecting the increasing confidence in the insurance system.
