UAE Urges Iran to Uphold Ceasefire and End Hostilities

The United Arab Emirates has strongly reiterated the necessity for Iran to adhere to the recently declared ceasefire and cease its aggressive actions in the region. This statement comes amid ongoing Iranian attacks impacting not just the UAE but also other Gulf nations, despite a two-week ceasefire announcement made by President Donald Trump. The UAE’s Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring Iran’s compliance with the terms of this agreement, emphasizing that Iran must fully commit to an immediate halt of all hostile activities and ensure the unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

UAE’s Firm Stand on Iranian Aggression

The UAE’s Foreign Ministry has conveyed its concerns regarding the recent escalation of hostilities. The ministry outlined the need for Iran to stop its “terroristic attacks” and protect the freedom of navigation in critical shipping lanes. They highlighted that the Iranian assaults over the past 40 days included nearly 2,819 ballistic and cruise missiles, alongside drone strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, which have led to significant human and material losses.

Calls for Accountability and Complete Disarmament

In its statement, the UAE emphasized the requirement for comprehensive measures to address Iranian threats. This approach includes not only Iran’s nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile arsenal but also the actions of its military proxies and terrorist affiliates throughout the region. The ministry called for urgent measures to ensure stability and safety in the Gulf, particularly regarding maritime security, economic threats, and acts of piracy in the Strait of Hormuz.

Responses from the United States and Iran

On Wednesday, President Trump announced a temporary cessation of strikes against Iran, contingent upon the immediate and complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He shared via his platform, “Truth Social,” that this decision followed discussions with Pakistani counterparts. Trump asserted that the U.S. had not only met its military objectives but had also surpassed them, positioning the nations toward a potential long-term peace agreement in the Middle East.

Ongoing Diplomatic Negotiations

An Iranian official disclosed that negotiations are set to occur between U.S. representatives and Iranian officials in Islamabad over the next 15 days to finalize the agreement. While the exact timing of these discussions remains undisclosed, American media sources have indicated that they will commence soon. The dynamics of these negotiations will play a crucial role in shaping the region’s security landscape and in determining whether Iran will comply with its obligation to adhere to the ceasefire.

The UAE continues to advocate for a rigorous approach toward ensuring Iran’s commitment to peace and stability, reiterating the need for strict compliance with the ceasefire and a halt to any aggressive maneuvers.
