UAE Condemns Iranian Attack on Habshan Facility

In a significant display of regional solidarity, the United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on the Habshan gas facility and Bab field. This incident underscores rising tensions in the Gulf region, as nations respond to threats that compromise their energy security and breach international norms. The Emirates’ response reflects not only its commitment to national sovereignty but also its advocacy for collaborative stability within the region.

Abu Dhabi, New York, Riyadh – The Sultanate of Oman condemned the targeting of energy facilities in the UAE and Qatar, as well as the attacks in Saudi Arabia. The wave of denunciations continues regarding the Iranian assaults on oil facilities in the region. While the UAE expressed its strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on the Habshan gas facility and Bab field, which represents a serious escalation and a violation of international law, Qatar emphasized that the attack on the Ras Laffan area has significant implications for global energy supplies. Meanwhile, Oman condemned the targeting of energy facilities in the UAE, Qatar, and other attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The UAE expressed its strong condemnation of the Iranian terrorist attack on the Habshan gas facility and Bab field, which was successfully intercepted by air defenses without any reported injuries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized in a statement that these attacks constitute a serious escalation and a violation of international law. The UAE asserts its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and national security and to safeguard its national interests. The ministry reiterated that this terrorist attack targeting the country’s infrastructure and oil facilities represents a direct threat to the security and stability of the region and its peoples, as well as to global energy security.

Consequences of the Attack on the Habshan Facility

In turn, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani condemned the Iranian strikes targeting the Ras Laffan area. During a press conference in Doha, he stated, “This attack has significant implications for global energy supplies,” warning that expanding the conflict will not serve the goals of security and stability in the region. He stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

Furthermore, Qatar sent a ninth identical message to both Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Michael Walts, the Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for March, regarding the developments of the Iranian attack on its territory, which represents a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and a direct threat to its security and territorial integrity, as well as an unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

Oman’s Position and Calls for Peace

Additionally, Oman expressed its condemnation of the targeting of energy facilities in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, emphasized the necessity of adhering to international laws and norms, and the importance of not targeting civilian facilities and global energy supplies. It called for de-escalation, a halt to military actions, and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes in a manner that ensures security and stability.

Oman expressed solidarity with its neighboring countries in their legitimate measures to safeguard their security and stability, urging the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and take necessary actions to end this war and its repercussions. It affirmed that addressing the root causes of the conflict lies in dialogue, which is the best way to find solutions and achieve lasting stability in the region.

Condemnation from the Gulf Cooperation Council

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohammed Al Budaiwi, expressed the Council’s strong condemnation of the Iranian targeting of the industrial city of Ras Laffan in Qatar. He affirmed that this serious attack represents a blatant violation of international laws and norms and is an unacceptable escalation that reflects Iran’s aggressive approach, threatening the security and stability of the region and undermining regional peace.

In his statement, he emphasized that targeting oil facilities and infrastructure is an unacceptable and condemnable act aimed at destabilizing the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and undermining the stability of global energy markets, posing a direct risk to regional and global supply security. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop these repeated Iranian attacks and to put an immediate end to the irresponsible actions that undermine regional and international security and peace.

The Gulf Cooperation Council reiterated its complete and unwavering solidarity with Qatar, standing united with it in all measures taken to protect its security, uphold its sovereignty, and maintain the integrity of its vital facilities.
