The UAE Gender Balance Council has launched the “National Gender Balance Survey” as part of the development plan for the UAE Gender Balance Strategy 2027–2031. This initiative aims to widen community participation and enhance the database and insights that will guide the prioritisation of future efforts in this critical area.
Strategic Development for People-Centric Growth
The new strategy builds on the UAE’s commitment to placing human development at the core of its growth agenda. This involves investing in individuals’ capabilities and advancing policies, legislation, and initiatives that promote equal opportunities. It is also aligned with the country’s readiness for rapid economic, social, and technological transformations that will shape the future of societies, job markets, and the global economy.
Leadership Commitment to Gender Balance
Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, emphasised that, under the wise leadership of the UAE, the country continues to refine its development model centered on human investment. She noted that the achievements in gender balance serve as a crucial foundation for future ambitions, stating, “We want the UAE Gender Balance Strategy 2027–2031 to mirror the nation’s aspirations moving forward and to align with rapid global transformations.”
Future-Centric Strategy Development
Mona Ghanem Al Merri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, highlighted the strategic development as a forward-looking initiative that seeks to anticipate changes influencing individuals’ lives and opportunities in the coming years. Key factors include shifts in job markets, new economies, artificial intelligence, future skills, as well as social changes affecting quality of life. Al Merri pointed out, “The world is changing at an unprecedented rate, and so too are the nature of work, skills, opportunities, and responsibilities.”
Data-Driven Approach to Strategy Building
The development of the 2027–2031 strategy is anchored in a comprehensive approach that combines data analysis with stakeholder dialogue and community engagement. This will facilitate the establishment of priorities based on a nuanced understanding of current realities and foresight into upcoming transformations, all while respecting the UAE’s identity and national priorities.
The Role of the National Gender Balance Survey
The “National Gender Balance Survey” is integral to the strategy’s development process, expanding the listening scope to include various community members from different backgrounds and professional stages. This addition will enrich the data with direct insights regarding experiences, needs, and aspirations.
Mouza Mohammed Al Guwais Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the UAE Gender Balance Council, remarked that while numbers and indicators provide a significant part of the picture, listening to individual experiences adds crucial depth. The national survey aims to broaden the spectrum of perspectives we rely on and reach diverse experiences across the community and Emirates.
Future Opportunities and Survey Accessibility
The survey covers various aspects linked to individuals’ daily experiences and future transformations, including economic participation, professional development, financial security, social care, quality of life, and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on career paths. It targets both Emirati nationals and residents, men and women from different age groups and sectors throughout the country, fostering participant diversity and enabling a broader understanding of experiences and opinions.
Completing the survey takes less than 10 minutes and is available in both Arabic and English. Participation can be accessed via the following link: https://sapience.survey-research.net/GBC-Insta?lang=ar.
The UAE continues to build on its achievements by refining its gender balance strategies and policies, setting the stage for new advancements that support the country’s competitiveness, enhance quality of life, and ensure sustainable development pathways.
