Strengthening Bilateral Relations

In a significant diplomatic meeting, Ibrahim Al-Alawi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Peru, engaged with Carlos Espada, the Foreign Minister of Peru. The discussion centred on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for expanding cooperation between the two nations.

Investment and Digital Transformation

The two diplomats deliberated on opportunities to boost Emirati investments in Peru and foster collaboration across various sectors. Key areas of focus included financial services and governmental digital transformation. Both parties are optimistic about discovering new opportunities that align with their mutual interests.

Water Security Initiatives

Another critical topic during their meeting was collaboration in the water sector. The officials examined ways to support initiatives aimed at providing clean drinking water in Peru. This cooperation is particularly timely, as it seeks to enhance Peru’s resilience against the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon.

Upcoming Initiatives on Water Security

Al-Alawi also showcased the UAE’s commitment to water security, highlighting the upcoming UN Water Conference 2026, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in partnership with Senegal. He emphasised the significance of the conference in promoting international collaboration and advancing efforts to tackle global water challenges.
