UAE Commits $29 Billion to Develop 13 New Communities in Abu Dhabi

The UAE is set to make a significant investment of $29 billion in the construction of 13 new housing communities in Abu Dhabi. This ambitious initiative aims to deliver over 40,000 homes and residential plots specifically for Emirati citizens, reinforcing the country’s commitment to enhancing living standards. By partnering with various developers, the UAE plans to bolster the housing sector, underscoring its role as a national priority that fosters social stability and community cohesion.

Comprehensive Housing Initiative

Under the agreements made between the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC), the development will encompass 25,244 housing units costing AED 94 billion ($25.6 billion) and 14,876 residential plots with a budget of AED 12 billion ($3.3 billion). This collaborative effort will oversee the intricate construction of these communities, ensuring modernity and efficiency at every step.

These new housing projects will be built to international standards, forming fully integrated communities that include essential amenities such as commercial centers, mosques, schools, public parks, green spaces, and sports facilities. Such thoughtful planning aims to create holistic living environments for residents.

Sustainable Living for Families

At the core of these developments lie the principles of sustainability, family stability, and well-being. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the significance of housing as integral to national growth and the importance of strategic investments that prepare society for the future. He advocated for strong collaboration between government and private entities to build communities that promote comfort, dignity, and social cohesion among Emirati families.

The announcement of this venture was made at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, drawing the attention of senior leaders, including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. The gathering celebrated the UAE’s commitment to advancing its housing sector.

Details of Abu Dhabi Projects

The housing initiative will take shape across various regions, including:

  • Abu Dhabi City: Six residential communities featuring 14,444 housing units at a total investment of AED 55.38 billion ($15.1 billion), spearheaded by Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, and Modon Properties.
  • Al Ain: Five communities comprising 10,480 units with a budget of AED 36.95 billion ($10.1 billion), developed in collaboration with Aldar, Bloom, Wahat Al Zaweya, and IMKAN.

These developments will complement existing projects such as the West Baniyas Housing Project and the Yas Canal Housing Project. With the new agreements in place, the total homes and plots being developed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority will rise to approximately 45,000, with completion targeted for 2029.

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, noted that these agreements reflect the President’s vision to promote family and social stability by delivering housing options that align with citizens’ aspirations. Additionally, this initiative supports the objectives of the Year of Community, which seeks to strengthen family bonds and enhance community cohesion.

Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, announced that a map-based reservation system will be implemented, allowing citizens to select their preferred residential areas. He assured that all housing units would be allocated to eligible citizens within a two-year timeframe.

Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, highlighted that these agreements symbolize the government’s dedication to providing a dignified living environment for its citizens while simultaneously supporting sustainable development goals.
