As a cornerstone of regional and global stability, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a model of wisdom and restraint in the face of overt aggression. Experts agree that its strategic and diplomatic responses, alongside advanced defense capabilities, underscore its vital role in maintaining peace and security. This article explores how the UAE serves as a foundational pillar for regional and global stability, especially amid recent international tensions.
In the face of blatant Iranian aggression, the UAE has exemplified wisdom, responsibility, and restraint. The leadership has addressed the escalation with political savvy and a strategic vision that safeguards the nation’s security and regional stability. While advanced defense systems have successfully thwarted attacks and neutralized their objectives, the UAE has reiterated its defensive stance against unjust Iranian aggression, emphasizing that it does not seek to become embroiled in conflicts or escalate tensions. At the same time, it retains its full right to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity, as well as to ensure the safety and security of its citizens and residents, in accordance with its right to self-defense under international law and the United Nations Charter.
Amid broad international solidarity reflecting the UAE’s global standing, experts and analysts assert that the UAE’s defensive capabilities and the strength of its military institutions are fundamental pillars for protecting regional stability and deterring threats. They emphasize that the blatant Iranian aggression against the UAE constitutes a clear violation of international law and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Gulf region. They confirm that the UAE’s leadership has managed the escalation with wisdom and self-restraint while showcasing advanced defensive capabilities that have successfully countered attacks and thwarted their objectives.
In statements to “Al-Ittihad,” experts noted that the widespread international solidarity with the UAE reflects its global standing and the importance of its stability for the international economy and security. Dr. Nabil Mikhaeil, a political science professor at George Washington University, stressed that the security of the Gulf and the UAE are red lines that cannot be crossed. He stated that these Iranian attacks constitute a clear violation of international law and a direct threat to regional stability. He explained that the UAE leadership has responded to these developments with a high degree of wisdom and responsibility, exercising restraint and caution to avoid slipping into a cycle of escalation while continuing to safeguard its national security.
He added that the UAE possesses advanced defense systems that have proven effective in countering drone and missile attacks targeting its territory, preventing loss of life or damage to facilities. He pointed out that the country is simultaneously seeking to contain the crisis and work towards de-escalation, alongside enhancing international cooperation, especially with the United States, to develop a more effective security framework for the Gulf, contributing to the protection of regional stability and deterring future threats.
Mikhaeil emphasized that the UAE Armed Forces have demonstrated a high capability to defend the nation’s territory, noting that the increasing international support for the UAE reflects the global community’s recognition of the seriousness of Iranian violations of international law. He stressed the UAE’s legitimate right to defend its sovereignty and territory, asserting that its ability to protect its security and stability is not open to negotiation.
Retired Brigadier General Khalfan Al-Kaabi, a political and military affairs expert, affirmed that Iranian attacks on the UAE cannot be justified in any way, emphasizing that they represent a clear violation of international law and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region. Al-Kaabi stated to “Al-Ittihad” that the UAE, along with several other countries in the region, has made significant efforts in recent times to prevent the area from slipping into widespread conflict, recognizing the strategic and economic importance of the Gulf region to the world at large.
He added that the current global rise in energy prices and disruptions in oil and gas supplies reflect the potential impact of any tensions in this vital region, making Iranian behavior increasingly dangerous in its ramifications. He indicated that Iran’s decades-long policy of procrastination and its development of concerning military and missile programs, along with a nuclear program, have deepened fears among neighboring countries, noting that the international community’s response to these programs has aimed at preventing them from becoming a direct threat to regional security.
Al-Kaabi confirmed that the UAE enjoys a significant international standing, not only economically but also on humanitarian and social levels, as the country hosts over 195 nationalities from around the world, making its stability and security a matter of broad international concern. He stated that the UAE represents a global economic hub and an important partner for many countries, which explains the substantial international solidarity with it in facing these attacks.
He noted that the supportive communications and messages received by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, from leaders and heads of government from various continents reflect the global community’s recognition of the UAE’s importance and its pivotal role in promoting stability and development in the region. Al-Kaabi mentioned that this standing is the result of a clear leadership vision and ongoing institutional work that has contributed to building a developed economy and a wide network of international relations, emphasizing that the countries of the region will not accept the continuation of any hostile policies that threaten their security and stability.
He stressed that respect for international law and principles of good neighborliness remains the foundation of any normal relationship between countries in the region, clarifying that the security of the UAE and the Gulf will remain an inviolable priority.
