The latest report from Expedia reveals a remarkable trend in travel searches among UAE residents, with a growing interest in destinations highlighted in award-nominated films and popular television shows. As people seek experiences tied to their favorite cinematic moments, UAE travel searches follow award-nominated films, showcasing a vibrant connection between media and travel choices. The report shines a light on how these visual stories are driving increased travel enthusiasm and prompting significant surges in bookings to various global locations.

According to the findings, there has been a notable spike in interest for destinations that have graced the silver screen, ranging from the enchanting desert of Abu Dhabi to the serene coastlines of Thailand.

UAE Travellers Flock to Film and TV Show Locations

Liwa Oasis in Abu Dhabi, which starred in a recent blockbuster, has witnessed a staggering 85 percent year-on-year increase in travel searches from the UAE. This hidden gem is drawing a crowd eager to experience the landscapes that have captivated audiences worldwide.

Additionally, Malta, a key location in a historical drama about a Roman gladiator, has seen an impressive 175 percent surge in searches. Historic sites, such as Fort Ricasoli, Fort Delimara, and Fort Manoel, are now must-visit attractions for those inspired by the film.

In a similar vein, Amsterdam’s charming tulip fields, which feature in a beloved Broadway musical, have sparked a 165 percent increase in travel interest. Visitors planning their trips for the April Amsterdam Tulip Festival can immerse themselves in the vibrant colors that the city is renowned for.

Rome and Vatican City have also benefited from their portrayal in a thriller centered on a papal election, experiencing a 115 percent rise in travel searches. Although scenes of the Sistine Chapel were recreated in the studio, tourists can still explore this iconic site at the Vatican Museum.

The bustling streets of New York City, highlighted in a film about a celebrated folk music figure, note a 70 percent growth in searches. Meanwhile, Thailand, depicted in a popular resort-based drama series, has recorded the most significant surge at an astonishing 285 percent, reflecting a deepening interest in its tropical allure.

Seoul, South Korea, which was prominently featured in a gripping survival drama, has notched a 95 percent increase in interest as well.

Expedia emphasizes optimal travel times for these sought-after locations. For instance, the best months to visit Abu Dhabi are November through April, while Malta shines from April to June or September to October. Travelers eyeing Amsterdam will find March to May ideal, and Rome is best explored during the same months. For New York, April through June is recommended, while Thailand is perfect from November to May, and Seoul shines from April to June.
