Transforming Education: Specialized Training on School Assessments and Digital Platforms

Starting tomorrow, Monday, schools across the UAE will observe a mid-term break for the first academic term. This pause coincides with the Ministry of Education’s implementation of a specialised training programme for teachers, which will run from October 12 to 14. The focus of the training will be on school assessment mechanisms, project-based learning and evaluation, and final school assessments, alongside the integration of digital educational platforms and the enhancement of teaching practices across various subjects.

Specialised Training for Teachers

According to the October 2026 schedule issued by the Ministry, the training programme includes a series of virtual and in-person workshops tailored to different specialisations, educational stages, and target groups. Several programmes will be available in both Arabic and English, with dedicated workshops for foreign language teachers, ensuring that each subject’s specific needs are met.

A key aspect of the programme will focus on school assessments, involving specific workshops for teachers of Arabic, English, mathematics, and sciences. These sessions will address assessment methods, including project-based learning assessments and final school evaluations. Additional workshops will cater to teachers of Islamic education, social studies, physics, chemistry, and biology, particularly regarding final assessments in each subject.

Upcoming Workshops Schedule

Final Assessment Training
Workshops on assessment strategies will commence on Monday, October 12, providing training for Arabic and English language teachers from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On Tuesday, October 13, similar workshops will continue for mathematics and science teachers, while Islamic education and social studies educators will also receive training focused on final assessments in their subjects. The programme will include a session titled “Assessment for Learning,” targeting all teachers in the second educational stage.

Project-Based Learning and Digital Platforms
On Wednesday, October 14, the training will pivot towards project-based learning assessments for the 2026-2027 academic year, specifically for second-stage teachers in Arabic, mathematics, and science, scheduled from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Meanwhile, final assessment training for physics, chemistry, and biology teachers will occur earlier on the same day from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, reflecting the tailored nature of the training for each subject.

The programme also includes a focus on utilising digital platforms in teaching, with specialised workshops on using the “Alf Education” platform for Arabic, English, Islamic education, social studies, and mathematics. There will be workshops targeting teachers in the second and third stages that incorporate language and specific subjects, along with dedicated mathematics workshops for select educational groups in Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates. Furthermore, an introduction to the “Alex” platform for mathematics teachers will be included, as well as sessions for chemistry and science educators in grades nine and ten, all directed at enhancing classroom experiences with innovative resources.

Support for Young Learners and Special Education

In the Early Childhood Education sector, the training schedule features a workshop for English language teachers at levels one and two in kindergartens that employ the “Monster Phonics” programme, focusing on phonics principles and programme delivery. This virtual session will take place on Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

For special education, two in-person workshops titled “Unified Individual Educational Plan 2” have been designated. The first will target special education teachers in Abu Dhabi, held at Al Shawamekh School on Tuesday, October 13, while the second will cater to teachers in Al Ain, taking place at the Teacher Training Centre on Wednesday, October 14, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both days.

Foreign Language Education and Professional Excellence

In the realm of foreign languages, the training schedule incorporates workshops for French and Spanish teachers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These sessions will address the integration of digital tools in language teaching and the adoption of strategies that enhance student memory retention. The Abu Dhabi workshops will be held on Monday, October 12, at Al Ajban School, while the Dubai sessions will occur at the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Metha on Tuesday, October 13, with two separate time slots for each location.

In addition to specialised training, the schedule includes general workshops aimed at teachers and school staff, focusing on professional excellence and participation in educational awards. These sessions will feature discussions on the digital education excellence framework and showcase experiences related to the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Educational Excellence, alongside pathways to achieving the Khalifa Award for Education.
