Transforming Dubai into a Vibrant Center for Art

We Aim to Transform Dubai into a Canvas

As part of an innovative vision to transform Dubai into a living work of art, Hala Badri, the Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, presented an inspiring concept for this creative transformation. Through cultural and artistic initiatives that aim to make creativity an integral part of daily life, Dubai seeks to embody the concept of art in every corner of the city, not just within galleries. This effort reflects the emirate’s commitment to becoming a global hub for arts and creativity.

Launch of the Arts at the “London Arts Biennale”

These statements were made during the opening ceremony of the “London Arts Biennale,” where Dubai was a focal point of attention. Hala Badri delivered the keynote address at the event, highlighting the innovative cultural policies adopted by the emirate, including how to integrate art into public spaces and the diverse programs for exhibitions. These policies contribute to enhancing creative interaction in cultural environments, making Dubai a model to emulate in the arts sector.

A Platform for Cultural and Artistic Discussion

The biennale was organized at the historic Chelsea Old Town Hall, featuring 350 artists from 60 countries, reflecting global standards in the artistic experience. The event served as an ideal platform for cultural and artistic dialogue, gathering a group of artists and art enthusiasts from around the world. Resident artists in the UAE also participated, further enhancing the country’s presence on the international art scene.

Showcasing Cultural Initiatives

During this event, Hala Badri highlighted the steady growth in the arts sector in Dubai, noting the authority’s commitment to supporting local talent and promoting global cultural cooperation. Among the highlighted initiatives was the launch of the Dubai Cultural Grant, along with a long-term cultural visa, reflecting the UAE’s status as a magnet for global cultural events.

Tour of the Exhibition and Creative Opportunities

During the biennale, Badri toured the exhibition alongside the Deputy Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea and the Director of the Gagliardi Gallery. She also visited the Victoria and Albert Museum’s warehouse and explored the East Bank area, where she followed the path of public art and attended presentations by students from the London College of Fashion. These activities underscore Dubai’s ongoing efforts to transform the entire city into a captivating canvas that embodies creativity in every corner.

These developments and trends represent tangible steps toward realizing the emirate’s vision, contributing to shaping a bright future for arts and culture in Dubai.
