The Dubai Police announced that the accident took place on Al Yalayis Street, just after the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Bridge, where a workers’ bus suddenly stopped in the middle of the road due to a technical failure. As a result, a truck collided with it from behind, leading to one fatality and 19 others sustaining various injuries.

According to Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, the accident resulted in eight serious injuries, two moderate injuries, and nine minor injuries. The injured were transported to the hospital for necessary treatment. The Brigadier stated that initial information indicates that inattention and insufficient safe distance were primary causes of the collision.

Experts from the Traffic Accidents Department moved to the scene of the accident to collect evidence and analyze the causes that led to it. Traffic patrols worked to secure the area and redirect traffic to alternative routes due to the congestion caused by the incident.

The General Command of Dubai Police warned of the dangers of remaining in the middle of the road due to technical malfunctions. They emphasized the importance of ensuring vehicle safety before driving and refraining from leaving it in traffic lanes. The fine for stopping in the middle of the road is estimated at 1,000 dirhams and six traffic points, while obstructing traffic can incur a fine of up to 500 dirhams.
Authorities urged drivers to take necessary safety measures, such as activating warning signals and placing a reflective triangle beside the road. In the event of a vehicle breakdown, it is crucial to contact Dubai Police for assistance and to avoid potential hazards.
