The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority’s pavilion at the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival in Al Wathba is experiencing significant interest from visitors and participants alike. This venue is home to one of the summer camps known as “Maqithna,” which comprises five specialised camps across various regions of Abu Dhabi Emirate.
A Rich and Engaging Experience
The camp offers a rich and holistic experience designed to blend learning with entertainment. Through a series of interactive programmes tailored for different age groups, it aims to instil a profound understanding of UAE heritage in an innovative manner.
Event Duration and Timings
Activities at the camp will continue until the 23rd of this month, welcoming visitors daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. It promises a genuine journey into the heart of Emirati heritage and identity, connecting traditional values with the spirit of innovation to engage younger generations and deepen their awareness of the lifestyle and traditions that have shaped the nation’s history and culture.
Interactive Sections of the Camp
The camp consists of five main sections, each offering 14 daily sessions that total 70 interactive activities per day, covering various aspects of culture and heritage.
Exploration and Learning Opportunities
Each section caters to the participants’ curiosity. The “Majlis” corner invites students to learn about Emirati hospitality and the authentic traditions that embody solidarity and welcoming gestures towards visitors. Meanwhile, the “Crafts” section provides an opportunity to discover traditional crafts and learn the secrets and skills passed down through generations.
Culinary Delights and Modern Interpretations
The “Fawail” section takes participants on a delightful journey through Emirati heritage dishes, exploring their preparation methods. Additionally, the heritage meets modernity in the “Challenge Al-Haddad,” a digital interactive game inspired by elements of Emirati culture.
Showcasing Arts and Community
Lastly, the “Midan” section, filled with performing arts and traditional games, underscores the camp’s role as a platform that merges learning with enjoyable knowledge-sharing.
This summer camp is a remarkable initiative by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, ensuring that the essence of Emirati culture remains alive and accessible to future generations.
