Sultan Bin Ahmed Celebrates Achievements of Medical and Health Graduates

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony for students of the medical and health sciences colleges, held at the university city. This event marks the culmination of the students’ years of learning in fields related to healthcare and reflects the university’s commitment to providing exceptional education to new graduates, contributing to the enhancement of healthcare quality in the UAE.

On Saturday, the ceremony began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates and verses from the Holy Quran. In his speech, Dr. Issam Al-Din Ajmi, Director of the University of Sharjah, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi for his support and patronage of the event, praising the graduation of a new cohort of specialists in medical fields. Ajmi emphasized the vital role the University of Sharjah plays in developing medical personnel, stating, “His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the founder of the university, directed the establishment of the ‘Integrated Healthcare Complex’ to serve as a living example of providing comprehensive healthcare.”

Ajmi noted that since the establishment of the complex, more than 4,500 doctors, dentists, and pharmacists have graduated and contributed to supporting the healthcare sector in the UAE and the region. He affirmed that the value of doctors lies not only in their academic knowledge but also in their ability to understand the humanity of patients during critical times, highlighting the importance of teamwork to ensure the best healthcare delivery.

The Director of the University of Sharjah also focused on the significance of health sciences specialties in providing community service, adding that “specializations such as health management, nursing, and medical laboratories represent the solid foundation for the success of the healthcare system.” He spoke about the responsibility of graduates in enhancing this system, saying, “Be the backbone of healthcare, and thus you will contribute to the development of community institutions.”

The ceremony included the awarding of degrees to 453 graduates from the medical colleges, including 189 from the College of Medicine, 150 from the College of Pharmacy, and 114 from the College of Dentistry, in addition to 423 graduates from the College of Health Sciences. The graduates received congratulations from His Highness the Sultan and his wishes for success in their future endeavors.

Graduate Ahmed Khalifa bin Ghalita spoke on behalf of his peers, expressing the importance of His Highness’s support for the university’s vision and the impact of his inspiring leadership. Graduate Ali Nabil expressed his happiness at graduating, praising the cultural diversity that characterized the university, stating, “After a long journey of hard work and diligence, we find ourselves today as graduates of the University of Sharjah.”

The graduates also took the professional oath in the medical fields in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, pledging to fulfill their medical and health duties with dedication and sincerity. This graduation is not the end of the road but the beginning of a new journey to extend a helping hand to the community, striving for the welfare and health of all.
