In the context of promoting human values and cultural heritage, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed and Jawaher Al Qasimi attended the “Human Investment Forum,” which aims to highlight the social and economic aspects of humanity in Palestine. This forum, themed “Humanity and Heritage in Palestine,” reflects the commitment of the Emirate of Sharjah to enhancing knowledge and thought across various fields.
Opening of the Forum and Leadership Insights
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, inaugurated the first session of the “Human Investment Forum,” which was attended by Sheikha Hour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Art Foundation. The forum was organized in the Al Razi Hall at the University of Sharjah, where His Highness noted that the theme of this session, “Humanity and Heritage in Palestine,” clarifies the path the university seeks to take in translating the forum’s message.
Heritage as a Vital Value
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi emphasized that the cultural heritage of peoples should be viewed as a living system of values, knowledge, and creativity, rather than merely as history or possessions. He underscored the importance of continuous academic and research efforts at the University of Sharjah to support projects focused on preserving Palestinian heritage, which encompasses arts, crafts, and architectural and social legacies.
Initiatives to Support the Palestinian Cause
In her speech, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi affirmed that the University of Sharjah was established to be a center for knowledge and thought and to support younger generations. She announced the establishment of the “Chair of Palestinian Studies” at the university, noting the increasing humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, adding, “We see it as our duty to revive the cause of Palestinian human heritage.” She also announced the launch of the “Palestine Heritage Fund,” aimed at protecting the tangible and intangible heritage of Palestinians in collaboration with local and international institutions.
New Agreements and a Vision for the Future
A tripartite cooperation agreement was signed to establish the Jawaher Al Qasimi Chair for Palestinian Studies, representing a culmination of collaboration between the University of Sharjah, the Namaa Foundation, and the Big Heart Foundation. Before the conclusion of the events, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed and Jawaher Al Qasimi toured the accompanying art exhibition “I Had a Day to Be,” which highlights the Palestinian experience through the works of artists, reflecting themes of exile, resistance, and the memory of place.
