Strengthening Economic Ties
عبدالله بن طوق المري, Minister of Economy and Tourism, recently met with مريم كفريفيشفيلي, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, to explore ways to enhance economic relations between the UAE and Georgia. The discussions focused on collaboration in emerging economic sectors, circular economy initiatives, food security, and sustainable development.
Collaborative Opportunities
During this bilateral meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, بن طوق reiterated that the UAE is committed to strengthening its position as a key economic partner across global markets. He highlighted the ongoing development of economic legislation and partnerships, aimed at fostering a competitive business environment that promotes investment, innovation, and economic diversification.
بن طوق also expressed a desire to elevate UAE-Georgia economic relations to new heights, diversifying cooperation across priority sectors and developing joint projects that can add tangible value to both economies. The meeting addressed several opportunities for increasing investment flows and enhancing collaboration between businesses and entrepreneurs from both nations.
Tourism and Air Connectivity
Significantly, the discussion touched on enhancing tourism and hospitality collaboration, with a focus on joint investments and development projects. This aligns with the substantial increase in Georgian tourist arrivals to the UAE, which saw approximately 33,600 visitors in 2025. The two countries have established 41 direct flights weekly, providing additional avenues for the growth of tourist exchanges and economic cooperation.
Sustainable Development Initiatives
In the domain of sustainable development, the ministers deliberated on circular economy solutions, particularly improving resource efficiency and recycling practices. They noted that transitioning towards circular models opens broad avenues for sustainable partnerships and innovation, allowing for knowledge exchange between the private sectors of both nations.
Discussions also included strategies related to food security, such as diversifying food supply chains and utilising advanced technologies in agriculture. This collaboration is expected to enhance food systems’ sustainability and adaptability to global changes. The nations also explored potential infrastructure collaborations and the integration of technology to boost economic activities and productivity.
Logistical Cooperation
Finally, the need to bolster logistical cooperation was emphasised, leveraging both countries’ strategic locations to enhance supply chain efficiencies. The dialogue highlighted opportunities for UAE and Georgian companies to expand into each other’s markets, as well as regional and international markets, thereby fostering greater economic synergy.
