The Islamic Affairs Department of Sharjah continues its dedicated efforts to harness the summer holiday for the development of young minds and the instillation of core values. This year, it has launched the third edition of the “Hearts Attached to Mosques” programme, under the theme “A Summer that Makes an Impact.” This initiative will take place in approximately 45 mosques across different cities and areas of the Emirate of Sharjah, further extending the department’s commitment to fostering a strong bond between the youth and the houses of worship, while promoting Islamic values and good morals.
Engaging Educational Activities for Youth
The programme coincides with the conclusion of the summer educational course for students, which was held in July and saw participation from around 800 boys and girls. This course included various scientific, educational, and interactive cultural activities, alongside recreational pursuits.
A Three-Week Programme
“Hearts Attached to Mosques” will run for three weeks, from 10 to 27 August, specifically targeting boys. This provides an additional opportunity for students who were unable to join the previous course to take advantage of activities located closer to their families throughout the emirate. The programme will cover sections of the Qur’an, the Sunnah, principles of worship, and Islamic etiquette and morals, in addition to competitions and interactive activities.
Specialised Courses for Girls
In parallel with the boys’ programme, the department is offering a summer educational course for girls at the Al-Salam Mosque in the Boushghara area of Al-Qasimia from 10 to 20 August. This initiative aims to provide girls with a comprehensive scientific and educational content that includes the Qur’an, Hadith, worship practices, the life of the Prophet, as well as etiquette and Islamic morals. The course will also feature interactive activities designed to connect knowledge with daily life, encouraging positive behaviours and practices.
Fostering Sustainable Impact
These initiatives reflect the vision of the Islamic Affairs Department of Sharjah to utilise the summer break in creating a lasting impact on the lives of young people. Moving beyond merely filling free time, the focus is on fostering balanced character development, enhancing awareness, strengthening connections to the Qur’an and the mosque, and instilling a pride in national identity. The theme “A Summer that Makes an Impact” succinctly encapsulates this vision through a blend of educational, recreational, and interactive programmes that contribute to nurturing a conscious generation proud of their faith and country.
