Sharjah Volunteer Award Enhances Elderly Expertise in Authenticity

The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work continuously works to enhance the transfer of experiences from the elderly under the category of authenticity, contributing to the promotion of a culture of giving within the community. Through distinguished events, the award honors individuals who significantly contribute to voluntary work and encourage future generations to benefit from their life experiences. By honoring these individuals, the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work highlights its importance in strengthening relationships between generations and spreading authentic values.

Special Recognition Ceremony

As part of its efforts to support a culture of giving, the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work honored several elderly individuals who won the “Authenticity Award for Best Voluntary Participation” during its twenty-second edition. The ceremony took place last June, attended by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The atmosphere was filled with pride and respect, as these individuals were recognized for their distinguished contributions to voluntary work.

Inspiring Achievements

Halimah Ahmed Saif Al-Nakbi won first place after achieving 86 hours of volunteer work, followed by Latifa Mahmoud Mohammed in second place with 26 hours of volunteer work. In third place was Meera Hamad Saif Al-Ketbi, who recorded a total of 25 hours of volunteer work. These winners achieved inspiring accomplishments that reflect their ongoing commitment to sharing their experiences with younger generations, underscoring the importance of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work in this context.

Comprehensive Evaluation Criteria

The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work is distinguished by its clear evaluation criteria, where 80% of the final score is allocated to the number of hours and voluntary contributions. Meanwhile, 20% is dedicated to the diversity of activities and the level of creativity involved. These criteria aim to select the most committed and impactful winners, enhancing the transfer of authentic values and experiences that the elderly carry to future generations.

Enhancing Intergenerational Communication

Saad Al-Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, emphasized that the choice of the name “Authenticity” reflects the status of the elderly in society and their role in transferring values and authentic experiences. The award aims to enhance communication between generations, providing an opportunity for the exchange of experiences between the elderly and the youth, which contributes to building a cohesive and integrated community. Al-Shamsi hopes that this recognition will encourage more elderly parents to participate in the next edition.
