Summary
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced partial traffic modifications, allowing for two lanes in each direction between the University City and the Institutes Area. The changes will be in effect from 26 August to 5 October 2026.
Starting from 26 August 2026, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority will implement a partial opening of traffic flow between the University City area and the Institutes Area. This modification will see two lanes available in each direction, providing continuity from Industrial Area (17) through to the university bridge and onwards to the university city.
Additionally, there will be a partial closure and diversion of traffic heading from Industrial Area (17) towards Maliha Street. Alternative routes will be established to ensure access to key locations, such as Sharjah English School and the Nesto Hypermarket, along with surrounding services.
These traffic diversions are part of the project to improve access routes to the Union Railway Station, aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and facilitating smoother traffic flow in the region.
The diversions will remain in place until 5 October 2026, and the Roads and Transport Authority urges road users to adhere to the approved detours. Motorists are encouraged to follow the signage and safety guidelines to maintain their safety and ensure a steady flow of traffic.
