The Executive Council of Sharjah convened its regular meeting under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The session included the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. This meeting focused on the critical topic of strategic planning and enhanced governance within various governmental entities to bolster service delivery for the citizens and residents of Sharjah.

Strategic Topics on the Council’s Agenda

During the session, the council discussed several issues concerning government performance and highlighted key strategic plans for governmental entities. These initiatives are essential for achieving institutional leadership and improving the services provided to the community. One significant decision made by the council was the transfer of Sheikh Saif bin Muhammad bin Saif Al Qasimi, the Director of the Civil Defense and Safety Authority, to the Labor Standards Development Authority while retaining his current rank. He has been appointed as the director of the new authority.

Enhanced Funeral Services for Families

The council reviewed a presentation on the introduction of a comprehensive set of services designed for grieving families, including options such as the arrangement of condolence tents and booking community halls. The initiative aims to alleviate the burdens on families during their time of loss by offering suitable venues and additional services like hospitality and directional signage.

Updates on Education Strategy

Additionally, the council was informed about the third cycle of the Sharjah Private Education Authority’s strategy for 2025-2028. The report provided vital statistics regarding the educational community in the private sector, noting that it comprises over 12,000 educators and more than 201,000 students enrolled in private schools, government-operated private schools, and training centers across Sharjah. The strategic report indicated that the second cycle (2022-2024) successfully increased the performance of schools rated as ‘very good’ by 80%. It also noted the rise in the localization of teaching staff in private schools and the confidence of 93% of parents in the educational services offered in the emirate.

Commitment to Professional Development

The report highlighted the Authority’s ongoing efforts in training and developing educators, offering insights into school and nursery statistics. Furthermore, it examined the performance indicators for the new strategic cycle and assessed the progress of digital service indicators. This focus on continual improvement reflects the Executive Council of Sharjah’s commitment to adopting effective strategies that enhance educational outcomes and institutional performance.
