Sharjah Unveils Ramadan Initiative to Aid Vulnerable Orphans

The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation has launched the Ramadan campaign “Zaki,” a significant initiative aimed at dedicating zakat to deserving orphan families associated with the foundation in the Emirate of Sharjah, as well as in the central and eastern regions. This campaign encompasses various humanitarian economic projects designed not just for the holy month of Ramadan, but to create lasting social safety nets and transformative opportunities that extend well beyond the month, fostering real change in the lives of these vulnerable families.

A Purpose-Driven Approach to Zakat

The “Zaki” campaign embodies the foundation’s firm belief that zakat should not only be allocated but should also create profound transformations in the lives of its beneficiaries. The foundation manages zakat funds within a well-structured institutional framework that prioritizes impact, dignity, and respect for human rights. By translating donations into genuine empowerment opportunities, the initiative seeks to enhance self-sufficiency and sustainability for orphan families.

Community Engagement and Transparency

According to Mona bin Huda Al-Suwaidi, General Director of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, “The ‘Zaki’ campaign exemplifies our approach to managing zakat as a community responsibility founded on trust and transparency. For over 23 years, we have been committed to utilizing zakat contributions in carefully planned programs that make a tangible difference in the lives of more than 2,700 fatherless children across over 1,200 families.” This commitment fosters stability and empowerment, moving away from merely offering temporary solutions.

Comprehensive Ramadan Projects

The “Zaki” campaign includes a variety of Ramadan projects designed to provide long-lasting benefits. One such initiative is the Zakat Money project, which finances sustainable programs that uphold the dignity and independence of families. The Iftar project endeavors to bring children and their families together at warm Ramadan tables, fostering a sense of family unity. Additionally, the Ramadan Essentials initiative fulfills the basic needs of families, ensuring a more peaceful month, while the Ramadan Empowerment Nights offer families a unique social experience that enriches their evening gatherings.

A Call for Collective Responsibility

Al-Suwaidi extended an open invitation to community members to ensure that their charitable contributions are directed wisely. “Participating in the ‘Zaki’ campaign is not just about fulfilling an obligation; it is about contributing to building a future that orphans and their families deserve,” she emphasized. The value of giving is measured by the depth and sustainability of its impact on the lives within the foundation.

The “Zaki” Ramadan campaign is not merely a fleeting initiative but an integrated vision for conscious giving. It translates zakat into lasting effects that touch the lives of fatherless children and their families, strengthening their stability and turning every contribution into a meaningful step toward sustainable empowerment and a more secure future.
