The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has announced the launch of two new electricity distribution stations operating at a voltage of 33 kV. The first station employs an advanced experimental system, while the initial phase of the Industrial 3 “A” station is nearing completion. Additionally, the second phase of the Industrial 3 “A” station has reached approximately 95% completion. The authority is also in the process of constructing 15 stations operating at 33/11 kV, with an investment exceeding 381.5 million dirhams.
This year, four additional stations are scheduled to be completed as part of these projects, which aim to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the electrical distribution network. This initiative will help meet the increasing energy demand and aligns with the authority’s ongoing plans to develop and modernise the distribution infrastructure, reflecting the urban and economic development currently witnessed in the emirate.
Strategic Vision for Sustainable Energy
Engineer Hamad Al-Tunji, Director of the Energy Transmission Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, stated that the 33 kV energy transmission and distribution stations are part of the authority’s strategic vision to enhance the electrical network’s efficiency and ensure sustainable service delivery to consumers, adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Future-Proofing the Electrical Network
He highlighted that the new stations are strategically located across various regions of the emirate to accommodate future expansions, development projects, and new residential areas. This distribution will directly contribute to increasing the network’s reliability and its capacity to handle the escalating electrical loads.
Commitment to Development
Engineer Abdullah Al-Kous, Deputy Director of the Energy Transmission Department, emphasised that these projects are progressing according to specified timelines under the supervision of specialised engineering and technical teams. He noted that the authority’s investment in the construction and development of distribution stations reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting sustainable development in Sharjah, while delivering optimal services to citizens, residents, and various economic sectors.
