Saif Al-Tayer inspects the progress of work on the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, highlighting the remarkable advancements in this pioneering project. This phase, which includes 1,800 megawatts and has an estimated investment of around 5.5 billion dirhams, is part of Dubai‘s efforts to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050. In this article, we will explore important details about Al-Tayer’s visit and the achievements made so far.
Field Visit to Review Progress
His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al-Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, conducted a field visit to the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. He was accompanied by Engineer Walid bin Salman, Executive Vice President for Business Development and Excellence, along with several senior officials and engineers from the authority. The visit aimed to review the progress and developments in the project.
Significant Progress in Work and Efficiency
Al-Tayer listened to a detailed presentation on the progress of the sixth phase, which has achieved a completion rate of approximately 68.59%. About 1,000 megawatts of the total 1,800 megawatts have been commissioned. The total number of installed photovoltaic solar panels has exceeded 2.236 million, and this number is expected to reach 3.959 million upon the project’s completion next year.
Contribution of the Project to Clean Energy Goals
The sixth phase of the park will increase the production capacity to 7,260 megawatts by 2030, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to clean energy sources. Currently, the park’s production capacity stands at 3,860 megawatts, while ongoing projects contribute an additional 800 megawatts. Clean energy sources are expected to account for approximately 34% of Dubai’s total energy production capacity.
Innovative Technologies and Environmental Sustainability
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority employs the latest bifacial photovoltaic solar panel technologies in the sixth phase, allowing for the utilization of sunlight reflected on both sides. Additionally, this phase supports a single-axis solar tracking system, enhancing efficiency. This phase will provide clean energy to around 540,000 residences, contributing to a reduction of 2.36 million tons of carbon emissions annually.
This initiative spans an area of 20 square kilometers, making it one of the major projects that enhance Dubai’s ability to achieve its sustainable energy goals. Saif Al-Tayer’s inspection of the progress in the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park reflects a dedication to sustainability and modern technology for a better future.
