Tadweer Expands Collection Services and Intensifies Awareness Efforts
In a move that reflects its commitment to improving the environment and enhancing community awareness, Tadweer is intensifying its efforts through its new campaign, “Dispose of It Responsibly.” This campaign aligns with the expansion of its “Collection” operations and the implementation of a smart waste collection model in new areas north of Abu Dhabi, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and support the circular economy in the emirate.
Community Awareness Efforts
Abdul Wahid Jumaa, Head of Communications at Tadweer, emphasized that the campaign focuses on promoting proper waste management behaviors. This is achieved through field awareness initiatives and direct communication with residents and business owners, aiming to maintain neighborhood cleanliness and enhance the aesthetic and quality of life across all areas of the emirate.
Expansion of Collection Services
Jumaa explained that the expansion of “Collection” services has increased the number of benefiting areas in northern Abu Dhabi to 29. The group has implemented comprehensive operational preparations to support this expansion, including training more than 270 employees in technology, health, safety, and environmental fields, as well as activating over 100 new vehicles for residential and commercial waste collection, including bulky waste.
New Technologies in Waste Management
Jumaa noted that the use of smart bins in the “Collection” model represents an advanced step in developing the waste management system, as sensor and camera technologies allow for monitoring bin fill levels, improving response speed. However, the success of this system is linked to community awareness and commitment to proper waste disposal behaviors.
Environmental Behaviors and Challenges
Jumaa stated that waste sorting and proper disposal at the source represent the first phase of the circular economy system, as they directly impact the quality of recyclable materials. He emphasized that correcting certain improper behaviors, such as placing waste outside bins, significantly contributes to improving the efficiency of the ecosystem and reducing the impact of waste.
Campaign Results and Community Engagement
Jumaa pointed out that the campaign has achieved widespread community engagement, reaching thousands of visitors in parks and shopping centers. This reflects the growing environmental awareness among individuals and their eagerness to contribute to environmental initiatives. The campaign aims to achieve Tadweer’s goals of diverting 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste away from landfills by 2031, supporting the emirate’s efforts to enhance sustainability and establish the principles of the circular economy.
