Hajjan Al-Raisah Dominates the Al Yida’ Championship at the Al Marmoom Finale
In a remarkable display of speed and stamina, Hajjan Al-Raisah dominated the Al Yida’ Championship at the Al Marmoom finale, affirming its dominance within the camel racing community. The annual event, held at the majestic Al Marmoom racetrack, showcased the best of elite camels as they competed for prestigious titles and recognition. The presence of distinguished figures and thrilling races made this year’s finale an unforgettable experience for attendees and participants alike.
A Show of Dominance by Hajjan Al-Raisah
The event was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Camel Racing Club, alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Racing enthusiasts witnessed 14 races during the evening session, each covering a distance of 6 kilometers, with the four main titles at the forefront.
In a stellar performance, Hajjan Al-Raisah claimed three of the four major trophies. The Open Cup for fillies was won by “Zafrana,” expertly handled by trainer Sultan Mohammed Al Wuhibi, who recorded an impressive time of 8:41.0 minutes, the fastest across all challenges of the event. The victory in the Open Gun for colts also went to Hajjan Al-Raisah, with “Al Fares” capturing the title in 8:41.5 minutes, solidifying their dominance.
Additional Wins and Celebrations
The triumphs continued for Hajjan Al-Raisah in the local categories, where the Local Cup for fillies was awarded to “Al Thafra,” led by Hamdan Mohammed Maroushed, achieving a time of 8:43.0 minutes. The winning streak culminated with “Al Mowj” securing the Gun for local colts, clocking a time of 8:41.1 minutes, rounding off a phenomenal performance from Hajjan Al-Raisah.
Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan graciously awarded the winners at the Al Marmoom venue, alongside executives from the Dubai Camel Racing Club, such as Ali Saeed bin Sarood and Abdullah Ahmed Faraj, marking the end of the championship races within the 2026 festival.
Looking Ahead: The Next Races
Following Saturday’s excitement, the festival will continue with 15 races scheduled for the following day, also honoring the Al Yida’ for the camels owned by the Sheikhs over the same 6-kilometer distance. Notable participants include “Salam” and “Shwaff,” who competed vigorously within their respective categories, setting the stage for even more thrilling encounters.
Moreover, the event will transition to the longer 8-kilometer races, creating anticipation among attendees. The focus will shift to the highly anticipated Al Marmoom Auction, which highlights exceptional breeding stock for camel racing enthusiasts. Scheduled for late March and early April, the auction promises to showcase an impressive lineup of 280 camels, specifically selected for their pedigree.
With a proven history of active participation and noteworthy sales, the Al Marmoom Auction has become a must-attend event for camel breeders and trainers throughout the Gulf region, continually earning its reputation as a central hub for breeding excellence.
