Ras Al Khaimah Sees 33.5% Surge in New Licenses

In a robust signal of economic vitality, the Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah reported a remarkable 33.5% growth in the number of new economic licenses issued in the third quarter of 2026, compared to the previous quarter of the same year. This figure underscores an accelerating pace of business establishment and an expanding base of economic activities within the emirate, fuelled by advancements in the business environment and a burgeoning array of investment opportunities across various sectors.

Significant Growth and Reduced Cancellations

The findings from the Economic License Movement Report revealed that the net increase in licenses surged by an impressive 101.7% when compared to the second quarter of 2025. This positive trend coincided with a notable 15.9% reduction in the number of canceled licenses compared to the previous quarter, reinforcing the net movement of licenses and contributing to the growth of the business landscape in the emirate.

Overview of Active Licenses and Capital Growth

As of the end of September 2026, the total number of active economic licenses in Ras Al Khaimah reached 22,447, marking a 4.1% annual growth compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the total registered capital for these active licenses rose to approximately AED 11.96 billion, showcasing a significant 12% year-on-year increase. This escalation indicates a higher capital value for the economic activities registered within the emirate.

Enhancing the Business Ecosystem

The growth in registered capital outpacing the increase in the number of licenses highlights a trend towards strengthening the capital base of both existing and new activities. This, in turn, aligns with the diversification of business scopes and supports sustainable economic activity, providing a broader foundation for expansion and investment.

Continued Commitment and Future Prospects

The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah remains dedicated to enhancing the business ecosystem and facilitating economic activities. By monitoring performance indicators related to licenses and analysing market variables, the department is better positioned to identify investment opportunities and address the needs of various sectors and regions. This strategy bolsters the emirate’s capability to attract investments and stimulate growth in commercial, professional, and industrial projects.

The performance of economic licenses in the third quarter of 2026 not only sheds light on the importance of indicators related to license issuance, cancellations, net additions, and registered capital, but also measures the vitality of the business environment. These indicators are critical for evaluating economic expansion pathways and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing Ras Al Khaimah’s competitiveness and solidifying the foundations for sustainable growth.
