20,900 Emergency Calls to Ras Al Khaimah Police During the Weather Disturbance

During a period of unstable weather, the Ras Al Khaimah Police Operations Room received 20,900 calls from citizens and residents between March 20 and 28 due to the weather conditions that led to heavy rain and flooding in various areas of the emirate. In this context, the police highlighted how they managed the significant increase in emergency calls, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public safety and ensuring smooth traffic flow.

Effective and Rapid Response

Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Mansoori, Director General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, confirmed that all incoming calls during the weather event were handled with high efficiency. Reports were immediately directed to the relevant authorities based on jurisdiction, with continuous follow-up until each case was resolved. He also noted that the response time for calls did not exceed 10 seconds, reflecting the readiness and efficiency of the operations room’s system.

Priority on Citizen Safety

Al Mansoori stated that “the safety of individuals was the top priority during the weather event, stemming from our professional and humanitarian duty.” The response teams were keen to ensure quick intervention when necessary. These efforts significantly reduced weather-related damages.

Collaboration with Strategic Partners

Al Mansoori pointed out the crucial role that collaboration and joint coordination with strategic partners and relevant authorities played during the weather disturbance. This cooperation helped mitigate the negative impacts of the weather and restore normal traffic flow. He also praised the public’s awareness and adherence to the instructions issued by the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command and the Emergency Management Team, which contributed to minimizing damage during this challenging period.

How to Report Emergencies

Al Mansoori further explained that Ras Al Khaimah Police encourages everyone to call 999 to report emergencies and 901 for inquiries and non-emergency cases. This contributes to enhancing response speed and better resource allocation based on priorities.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police and its personnel remain in a constant state of readiness to face challenges and provide necessary support to the community, thereby enhancing the sense of reassurance and safety among all residents of the emirate.
