Recently, the Digital School, a key initiative by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, announced the enrollment of 340 teachers into its comprehensive “Digital Teacher Preparation Program” at the Teacher Training Institute in the capital, Nouakchott. This strategic program is part of a significant push towards digital transformation in education, specifically targeting underprivileged groups worldwide.

A Commitment to Digital Transformation

The Digital School’s initiative reflects its commitment to enhancing educational standards by equipping teachers with the latest global methodologies. The program aims to foster professional growth among educators in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania by developing blended learning skills and efficient management of digital classrooms. With the recent addition of 340 teachers, the total number of beneficiaries from teacher training programs in Mauritania has now exceeded 2,070, underscoring the initiative’s growing influence.

Empowering Women Educators

Notably, the program has seen over 45% female participation, highlighting a significant shift towards gender balance within the educational sector. The rising involvement of women in leading the digital transformation in education reaffirms the Digital School’s pivotal role in empowering educators and enhancing their readiness to navigate the challenges of the digital age.

Collaboration and Innovative Training Models

Results and Future Prospects

Currently, 340 teachers have successfully registered on the Global Digital Teacher Academy platform and completed in-person training focusing on the use of digital educational pathways. A commendable 240 teachers have passed the “Guidance” course, and over 100 have completed the advanced course titled “The Teacher in the Digital Classroom,” focusing on effectively utilizing digital teaching tools. Dr. Walid Al Ali, Secretary-General of the Digital School, emphasized that investing in teachers is fundamental to developing digital educational systems and that the school is continuously expanding its programs to empower educators in their local communities.

The collaborative outreach, including the partnership with the University of Arizona, enhances the quality of training programs and ensures that educational content aligns with global best practices. The swift accomplishments of the Digital School’s initiatives in Mauritania solidify the effectiveness of their training model and its sustainable impact.

Moreover, Mohamed Amin Al-Baan, Director of the Teacher Training Institute in Nouakchott, noted that cooperation with the Digital School has revolutionized teacher preparation, whether through enhancing national digital capabilities or improving infrastructure. He views this model as an essential step that can be replicated across other teacher training institutes in Mauritania.
