Sharjah Heritage Pavilion Unveils Exclusive Releases and Signings

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage is illuminating its pavilion at the 2025 Sharjah International Book Fair with exciting new releases and signature events. These initiatives have attracted significant attention from visitors, researchers, and cultural enthusiasts, underscoring the institute’s role in preserving and celebrating UAE and Arab heritage. Throughout the fair, numerous activities, including literary presentations and book signings, showcase a vibrant cultural movement that reflects the essence of Sharjah’s rich heritage.

Exciting New Releases at the Pavilion

As part of the vibrant activities, the pavilion hosted the signing of several new publications focused on heritage and popular traditions. Among the highlighted releases was the book titled “حكايات الأمثال الشعبية الإماراتية والخليجية” by media figure and researcher Khamees Ismail Al-Matrooshi. He emphasized that “each popular proverb is a story that encapsulates the wisdom and experiences of the people.” Al-Matrooshi added, “This publication documents the memory of proverbs circulated in the Gulf and narrates the stories from which they were born, whether real or a product of literary imagination. The Sharjah Institute for Heritage is a true supporter of this work and everything related to our popular culture.”

Prominent Signings by Distinguished Authors

Dr. Salem Zayed Al-Tunji also marked his presence by signing his poetry collection “ديوان بن شمسه,” a comprehensive documentation of a significant folk poet whose works had been scattered for decades. Al-Tunji shared that “the preparation for this collection took years of research; it is not merely a compilation of poems but rather a documentation of the journey of a poet who left a mark in the Emirati community.”

Connecting Tradition and Cultural Identity

The signing ceremonies continued with Dr. Samar Mahmoud Mohammed Abdullah Al-Khoor presenting her book “مناظر الصيد في مصر.” She highlighted the connection between material heritage and cultural identity, stating, “History and heritage are two sides of the same coin, and the support from the Sharjah Institute for Heritage makes academic research a bridge between the past and the present.”

A Hub for Cultural Engagement

Furthermore, the pavilion saw the signing of other notable works, such as Ibrahim Al-Jarwan’s “النجوم والمواسم,” which explores the relationship between astronomy and agricultural seasons in the Arabian Peninsula. A range of new research publications by Emirati and Gulf researchers also featured prominently. The pavilion attracted a diverse audience of visitors, researchers, and journalists who actively engaged with the activities, expressing admiration for the richness and diversity of the pavilion’s offerings. Many attendees remarked that the Sharjah Institute for Heritage has become a key venue that blends in-depth research with beautiful presentations, reintroducing heritage as a living language for communication across generations.
