Al Qudra Intersection Transformation Features Innovative New Bridge

Opening of a Bridge as Part of the Main Intersections Development Project on Al Qudra Street

Dubai saw the opening of a new 600-meter bridge with a capacity of four lanes yesterday, as part of the main intersections development project on Al Qudra Street. The bridge is a significant component that enhances traffic flow, contributing to an improved experience for residents and visitors in one of the city’s most vibrant areas. This major project responds to the increasing urban development and is expected to positively impact the quality of life in the emirate.

Improving Traffic Flow

The completed bridge aims to increase traffic capacity from 6,600 vehicles per hour to approximately 19,200 vehicles, reflecting a 191% increase. Reports indicate that waiting time at the intersection has decreased by 55%, from 113 seconds to 52 seconds, helping to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

North and South Bridges

The Roads and Transport Authority will open the northern (left) bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Street with Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, which extends 700 meters. The bridge will feature two lanes in each direction, enhancing traffic flow towards Al Qudra City and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The southern (right) bridge is also expected to achieve greater traffic efficiency upon its completion.

Comprehensive Infrastructure Development

The project, which includes the development of several intersections, involves the construction of bridges totaling 2,700 meters and the widening of the existing road by 11.6 kilometers. These efforts aim to improve integration between roads and facilitate the movement of residents, supporting ongoing population growth in Dubai. It is noteworthy that residential areas equipped with modern services and infrastructure accommodate around 400,000 residents, highlighting the importance of this project.

The Future of Traffic in Dubai

With the completion of the Al Qudra Street intersection project, this corridor is expected to see significant improvements in traffic efficiency, greatly reducing travel times. Travel times will decrease from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes, allowing residents and visitors to experience smoother and less congested transportation. This project represents a major step towards enhancing the quality of life in Dubai and supporting economic activity.

Considering all these developments, it appears that the main intersections development project on Al Qudra Street will have a substantial positive impact on traffic flow, reflecting the emirate’s ambitious vision for a sustainable future.
