Mohammed Bin Rashid Library: Celebrating Knowledge and National Heritage

The Mohammed bin Rashid Library is set to celebrate knowledge and national heritage throughout August with an exciting range of events. Offering a series of dialogue sessions, poetry evenings, artistic workshops, theatrical performances, and cultural exhibitions, the library aims to engage various community segments and reinforce its status as a cultural hub for readers, creators, and cultural enthusiasts.

Summer Activities for Children

The programme begins with a two-week summer camp for children running from 3rd to 15th August. This camp provides a comprehensive educational and recreational experience that combines creativity with movement in a joyful learning environment. It features diverse workshops and interactive activities designed to enhance children’s skills, boost their creative and intellectual capabilities, and encourage self-expression through exploration and teamwork, ensuring they make the most of their summer vacation in a safe and inspiring setting.

Educational and Training Camp for Youth

In addition to the children’s camp, the library will organise a specialised educational and training camp for youth aged 9 to 15. This event includes four specialised workshops spread over four days, beginning on 4th August and concluding on 8th August with a graduation ceremony to honour the participants. This initiative reflects the library’s commitment to nurturing young talents and celebrating their achievements.

Cultural Sessions and Literary Evenings

The cultural momentum continues with a series of literary and artistic sessions dedicated to celebrating the national cultural heritage. Opening these events is a knowledge session titled “Fifty Years of Knowledge Leadership,” which highlights the academic journey of the United Arab Emirates University and its significant role in developing higher education, research, and national competencies. This event marks the university’s golden jubilee and its inclusion in UNESCO’s programme celebrating the anniversaries of personalities and institutions in 2026.

Honouring Emirati Poet Ahmed Bin Suleiman Al-Falasi

In a tribute to the legacy of Emirati poet Ahmed Bin Suleiman Al-Falasi, the library will host a dialogue session titled “A Poetic Legacy that Narrates the Nation’s Memory.” This session will examine Al-Falasi’s poetic experiences and contributions to preserving national memory and enhancing the status of Nabati poetry, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of his passing.

Continuing the celebration, an evening called “In the Presence of Nabati Poetry” will gather a select group of poets to reflect on Al-Falasi’s legacy, appreciating his contributions to enriching Nabati poetry and reinforcing national identity through the beauty of Emirati words.

Art and Humanitarian Engagement

In honour of World Humanitarian Day, the library will present an event titled “Art as a Humanitarian Response.” This three-day artistic experience will combine an interactive workshop and a mini-exhibition featuring the works of artist Ahmed Al-Weary. This initiative explores art’s capacity to express empathy and support through the language of hands and features, offering participants a chance to showcase their work at a final exhibition hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library.

Interactive Theatre and Educational Support

Focusing on enhancing language skills among children, the library will also present a theatrical performance titled “The Letters on a Grammatical Mission,” in collaboration with the National Fund. This exciting educational adventure will animate letters and words into living characters, teaching Arabic grammar rules in an entertaining and interactive format.

Back to School Programmes

On 21st and 22nd August, the library will host a “Back to School” programme, bringing together a selection of schools and educational institutions, along with a specialised market for school supplies. This event will feature various workshops and interactive activities for children, complemented by educational sessions for parents focusing on preparing for the new academic year, child health, and wellbeing.

Celebrating Emirati Women

Concluding the programme for August, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library will celebrate Emirati Women’s Day, this year under the theme “We Appear Stronger and Better.” A dialogue session titled “Emirati Woman: Contribution and Leadership in the Health Sector” will gather prominent Emirati leaders, doctors, and researchers to highlight the journey of Emirati women in healthcare, their contributions to scientific research and health services, as well as their inspiring community service experiences.

The programme will also feature an exhibition titled “Creativity of Emirati Women,” showcasing a curated selection of works by Emirati female authors and creators from the library’s collection, celebrating their contributions to literature, thought, and culture while highlighting their role in enriching the cultural and intellectual landscape.
