Military Court to Prosecute Suspects in National Service Fraud

The Military Public Prosecutor in the United Arab Emirates has ordered the referral of several individuals to the military criminal court. This follows allegations of abuse of power linked to the wrongful acquisition of exemptions and exceptions, as well as manipulation of military service records. The Ministry of Defence announced this development through their official account on the social media platform “X”.

Details of the Allegations

Investigations have revealed that the charges against the individuals, who include public employees and conscripts, involve the forgery of official documents and medical reports. These actions were allegedly designed to allow certain recruits to bypass the established procedures for national and reserve service.

Military Prosecutor’s Stance

The Military Public Prosecutor stressed the importance of national service, describing it as a duty, honour, and responsibility towards the country. He noted that maintaining the integrity of the service process is vital for ensuring justice and equality in fulfilling this obligation, protecting national commitments from any violations or abuses.

Accountability and Legal Proceedings

The Prosecutor emphasised a commitment to pursuing anyone found guilty of exploiting their position to facilitate non-compliance with military service obligations. He affirmed that those accused will be held accountable under military law, consistent with legal standards.
