Mansour bin Zayed: Humanitarian Legacy at the Heart of UAE

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, recently visited the floating hospital to assess its operational readiness and advanced medical capabilities. This initiative enhances the UAE’s efficiency in humanitarian response and provides specialised healthcare in disaster and crisis zones.

Commitment to Humanitarian Aid

Sheikh Mansour emphasised that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the country continues to strengthen its humanitarian approach by aiding affected communities. This is achieved through the development of advanced capabilities that enhance the speed of response to crises, ensuring medical care is provided wherever needed.

A Significant Addition to Humanitarian Efforts

The floating hospital serves as a significant quality addition to the UAE’s humanitarian and relief work. It embodies the commitment of the nation to harness the latest technologies and medical capabilities to support those affected, contributing to life-saving measures and enhancing humanitarian responses in line with its enduring mission of aiding victims and alleviating their suffering.

Advanced Facilities and Infrastructure

During his visit to the floating hospital at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mansour received detailed information about its components. The hospital boasts a capacity of 100 beds, classified as a Level III Trauma Hospital. It includes 10 intensive care beds and 18 beds designated for treating accident and trauma injuries. Modern operating rooms are equipped for a variety of surgical procedures, including emergency surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, and laparoscopic surgery.

Sheikh Mansour also explored the integrated smart infrastructure of the hospital, featuring advanced systems for the production and distribution of medical gases, a facility for the purification and production of fresh water, and a wastewater treatment station. Additionally, an intelligent nurse call system is in place to ensure the sustainability of operations and maintain healthcare service delivery at the highest global standards.

Comprehensive Medical Services

The tour included visits to emergency departments, diagnostic imaging, laboratories, outpatient clinics, pharmacies, and inpatient wards. The floating hospital leverages the latest medical devices and technologies, enabling it to deliver comprehensive treatment services that rival those of modern land-based hospitals.

Enhancing Humanitarian Readiness

The development of the floating hospital is part of the UAE’s broader efforts to enhance its capability for humanitarian and medical responses in emergencies. By providing advanced, deployable health facilities, the UAE aims to ensure that specialised medical care reaches affected areas swiftly, reflecting the nation’s leading position in supporting humanitarian and relief efforts at both regional and global levels.
