Liwa University has entered into a significant academic and research collaboration with the Dubai-based Artificial Intelligence Journalism Research Foundation (AIJRF). This partnership aims to enhance the integration of Agentic AI within university education and scientific research. By developing specialised AI agents, the initiative will support faculty members, researchers, and students, contributing to curriculum development, improving learning outcomes, and fostering innovation across various disciplines.
Focus Areas of Collaboration
The agreement outlines plans to create AI applications and agents in five key sectors: media and communication, social and humanitarian sciences, medical and health sciences, business management, and scientific research and academic publishing. Furthermore, the collaboration will implement training programs and practical workshops designed to equip academic staff with the skills needed to design, manage, and effectively utilise intelligent agents for educational and research tasks.
Strategic Significance
Professor Mohamed Mahgoub Diyaf, President of Liwa University, remarked that collaborating with AIJRF is a strategic move to keep pace with the rapid advancements in AI technology. He emphasised the importance of developing an academic environment that leverages the potential of these technologies to enhance the quality of education and scientific research.
Empowering Academics and Students
Dr. Mohamed Abdel Zaher, CEO of AIJRF, highlighted the foundation’s aim to establish a practical model for integrating Agentic AI into higher education institutions. He expressed the need for academics to transition from merely using AI tools to leading integrated teams of intelligent agents. These teams will operate under their supervision to assist in course and content preparation, learning outcome analysis, organising scientific research stages, and developing academic projects.
Practical Applications and Market Relevance
The partnership will also leverage the expertise and programs developed by AIJRF, including the international academic programme “Foundations of Building Academic Educational Programs and Integrating AI Tools and Techniques” (FAPAI). The practical activities are set to enable students to design intelligent projects and agents that address real-world challenges in their fields, thereby enhancing the connection between academic knowledge and practical application, as well as meeting labour market requirements.
