The “Life River” Fund, an initiative by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority in the health sector, has successfully set up a medical camp in Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania. This camp aims to diagnose and treat children suffering from congenital heart diseases. The event was attended by His Excellency Ahmad Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, alongside Makoya Salum, the Minister of Health in Zanzibar.
Medical Camp Success
The camp welcomed around 250 children who underwent thorough medical examinations and specialised diagnostic tests. The results indicated that a number of these children would require precise surgical interventions, while others would need ongoing treatment and follow-up over extended periods.
Immediate Surgical Interventions Planned
In response to the urgent needs identified, the fund has developed an immediate plan to address cases requiring surgical procedures. Several operations will be conducted within Tanzania, meanwhile, the most complex cases will be transported, alongside their guardians, to specialised hospitals for cardiac surgery in India.

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority launched the “Life River” Fund in 2023, aiming to provide healthcare solutions for children with serious health conditions across various nations, specifically for those needing specialised surgical procedures. Since its inception, the fund has offered many children renewed hope for recovery, effectively saving lives and enhancing futures.
