July Sees Record High Temperatures During Summer Heatwave

July: One of the Hottest Months of Summer

July is considered one of the hottest months of summer, characterized by scorching weather dominating the United Arab Emirates. Temperatures rise due to a combination of climatic factors, including thermal lows and the convergence of the tropics. The country experiences climatic fluctuations, ranging from high temperatures to active winds, making this month crucial for weather watchers and climate enthusiasts.

Climatic Factors Affecting July

The Indian monsoon low is one of the key factors contributing to the rise in temperatures in July. This low significantly impacts the region and the country, increasing temperature levels due to the influence of the eastern mountains. As a result, the month witnesses the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, which sometimes lead to rainfall in certain inland areas.

Climate Changes and Winds

During the second half of July, some areas of the country are affected by the convergence of the tropics, leading to the occasional formation of rainy cumulonimbus clouds. The role of the land and sea breeze is important in directing the winds. In the evenings and mornings, southeastern winds blow, while northern winds become more active during the day, which may stir up dust. These winds can intensify in the morning, adding new factors to the weather conditions.

Temperatures and Relative Humidity

The average temperatures in July range from 34.6 to 37.2 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures tend to rise, fluctuating between 39.7 and 43.8 degrees. Minimum temperatures range from 29.1 to 31.4 degrees. It is noteworthy that the highest recorded maximum temperature in Muzaire’ah in 2017 reached 51.8 degrees, while the lowest recorded temperature was 16.9 degrees at Jebel Jais in 2022.

Humidity levels rise on some days during the early morning across several areas, making July one of the hottest months of summer and reflecting the climatic challenges faced by the country. These characteristics make July a pivotal period for understanding the dynamics of weather in the UAE.
