This year’s event, themed around the need for empathy and support in addressing autism spectrum disorders, served as a vital platform for educators, families, and strategic partners. Its primary goal was to enhance inclusive practices and strengthen cooperation within the educational framework. As discussions about the forum unfold, the focus remains on fostering environments that cater to the diverse learning needs of all individuals.

The Emirates College for Educational Development concluded the twelfth annual Autism Forum, which was held over two days with wide participation from educators, families, and strategic partners, coinciding with Autism Awareness Month and celebrating the “Year of the Family” in the United Arab Emirates. The aim was to enhance inclusive practices and reinforce cooperation across the educational system.

The forum was held under the slogan “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” highlighting the human aspect of dealing with autism spectrum disorders and the importance of adopting practical, empathy-based practices and impactful initiatives that enhance the quality of life for individuals and support their active integration into society. The forum, organized annually by the college, served as an interactive platform for exchanging experiences and dialogue, showcasing best practices that contribute to the development of more inclusive educational environments responsive to the needs of all learners.

Dr. Mai Leith Al-Tai, the college director, stated: “Through this forum, we continue to work towards establishing more inclusive educational environments that guarantee every individual a real opportunity for learning and active participation, reflecting the values of the UAE in empowerment and humanity.” This commitment to enhancing inclusive education is evident in the daily work of the institution.

The importance of integrating efforts and working together to achieve a greater impact was emphasized, along with collaboration between schools and teacher colleges to promote inclusive education. Community research has also proven its vital role in achieving positive and sustainable integration.
