Hoor Al Qasimi Presents Captivating Art Exhibit by Jorge Takla

Hoor Al Qasimi Launches Art Exhibition for Jorge Tacla

Her Highness Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chair of the Sharjah Art Foundation, has launched a new art exhibition featuring the works of artist Jorge Tacla, reflecting the evolution of art and its connection to global events. The exhibition, titled “What Time Leaves Behind… Time Remains,” unveils rich works that embody profound concepts related to human memory. The exhibition is held at Al Mureijah Square in Sharjah and is a prominent cultural event that allows the public to explore the world of artist Jorge Tacla.

Works Covering Four Decades of Creativity

The exhibition opened on February 8, in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation. According to Abdullah Al Janahi, the assistant curator at the foundation, “This exhibition features artworks that span over four decades of Tacla’s artistic career.” The title, inspired by a poem by T.S. Eliot, delves into the theme of uncovering eternal truths after painful events, enhancing the artistic value of the exhibition and reinforcing its cultural role.

The Artist and Identity

Jorge Tacla is a Chilean artist of Palestinian and Syrian descent. Over the past forty years, his works have evolved alongside significant changes in society’s perspectives on human rights and visual culture. With the increasing use of satellite imagery, the ways in which people understand political events have transformed, significantly impacting the appreciation of images in contemporary culture.

Exploring Memories Through Art

Tacla’s artistic works focus on humanity’s capacity for perception and remembrance, prompting him to establish a profound sense of connection to a place within his creations. Rather than merely presenting objects directly, he aims to create a bridge that helps people reevaluate memories—whether personal or collective—in the context of global issues. This idea highlights the importance of art in shaping collective consciousness and fostering human connections.

Exhibition Details and Duration

In an interview with “Sharjah 24,” Al Janahi confirmed that the exhibition, supported by Her Highness Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, presents a comprehensive collection of 170 artworks, including paintings, sketches, and multimedia installations. Most importantly, it will allow the public to engage with these works until June 7, 2026, providing an extended opportunity for exploration and reflection on Jorge Tacla’s philosophy.
