Hamdan bin Mohammed: Transforming Dubai’s Future with Nad Al Sheba

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has emphasised that Dubai, under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has positioned itself as the first city globally to institutionalise a comprehensive governmental framework dedicated to anticipating and shaping the future. This transformative approach shifts the focus from individual initiatives to a sustainable, institutional strategy.

Introduction of Nad Al Zabeel

During the launch of the Nad Al Zabeel complex, Sheikh Hamdan articulated that this framework now encompasses several key institutions, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Future Accelerators, Dubai Future Labs, and the Dubai Academy for the Future. These entities collectively engage in foresight, talent development, solution testing, and the practical application of innovative ideas.

A Hub for Research and Innovation

Sheikh Hamdan noted that Nad Al Zabeel represents a significant addition to Dubai’s future-making ecosystem, serving as a global centre that integrates scientific research, development, and innovation, with the aim of converting knowledge into new economic and developmental opportunities.

The Vision of Sheikh Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also introduced the Dubai Future Research Centre, identified as ‘Nad Al Zabeel’. He shared on the social media platform X, stating, “Life has taught me that the future is not to be waited for, but to be crafted… The challenges faced by nations are not due to the pace of future developments, but the sluggishness in preparing for and contemplating them.”

He further elaborated, “Today, we launch the ‘Dubai Future Research Centre’, which we have named ‘Nad Al Zabeel’. Our aim is to attract 30,000 researchers and specialists to benefit from its services in advancing vital future sectors related to human life.”

Completing the Strategic Ecosystem

Sheikh Mohammed concluded that Nad Al Zabeel will complete the strategic ecosystem for institutionalising future creation and will join existing entities such as the Dubai Future Foundation and the Museum of the Future, among others, to forge the best environment in the world for foresight, readiness, and future-making. “Our future is bright, God willing,” he affirmed.

Establishing Dubai as a Future Hub

At the announcement event for the Dubai Future Research Centre, attended by Sheikh Hamdan, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of establishing Dubai as a leading centre for future-making. This complex is envisioned as a vital hub for integrating research, development, and innovation within a comprehensive ecosystem in Dubai.
