Excitement is building in Abu Dhabi as the Abu Dhabi Sailing Academy prepares to host the third round of its internal sailing competition this Sunday. With participation expected from over 40 sailors, including both men and women from the academy and the nearby Al Marfa, this event is part of a dedicated programme aimed at nurturing maritime talent and enhancing the skills of young and emerging sailors.
Competitive Spirit and Skill Development
The upcoming competition will feature various categories, including Optimist and Ilka classes. Participants will compete in a spirited environment that not only fosters competitive edge but also contributes significantly to the technical skill development of the sailors. This allows them to refine their abilities in handling sailing boats and navigating wind conditions, while also gaining invaluable field experience that prepares them for future local and international championships.
Continuing the Legacy of Internal Races
The third round serves as a continuation of the internal racing series organised by the academy throughout the season. The primary objective is to elevate the skill levels of the sailors, offering coaching teams the opportunity to evaluate performance, track skill development, and identify promising talents capable of achieving impressive results in forthcoming competitions.
Commitment to Nurturing Future Sailors
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Sailing Academy, emphasised the significance of internal races in shaping a new generation of sailors. He noted that these events are integral to the ongoing technical development and training regimes adopted by the academy. Moreover, they play a vital role in fostering a spirit of competition and sports discipline among participants.
A Vision for the Future
Al Suwaidi further articulated the academy’s commitment to broadening the base of sailing participation and creating an encouraging sports environment for youth. This aligns with the club’s strategy to support national talents, enhance their capabilities, and prepare them for various sporting challenges.
A Celebration of Achievement
The competition will culminate in an awards ceremony that highlights the achievements of top performers across various categories. This initiative reflects the club’s dedication to motivating participants and encouraging them to continue improving their skills and striving for further excellence.
