The Dhid Cultural and Sports Club has taken an important step in promoting digital safety with its recent seminar titled “Protect Your Device from Hacking.” This initiative is part of the club’s commitment to fostering cybersecurity awareness among participants in the summer activity program. The workshop was organized during the “I Am an Athlete” week of the “Sharjah Sports Summer – Our Vacation is Unique” program, which is held under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council.
On Friday morning, the lecture was delivered by Captain Issa Obaid Al Zaabi from the Central Region Police. He highlighted the critical importance of safe and positive use of electronic devices in light of the rising number of hacking attempts through apps and games popular among children and adolescents. Al Zaabi emphasized the need for education regarding the dangers of engaging with random and unverified content, urging families to equip their children with the necessary knowledge to navigate the increasing digital threats.
During the seminar, Al Zaabi stressed the crucial role families play in monitoring and guiding their children’s online activities. He also underscored the importance of reporting any hacking attempts or electronic threats to the appropriate authorities. The seminar witnessed impressive engagement from the attendees, who expressed their growing awareness of cybersecurity through thoughtful questions and interactions, reflecting their interest in the topic.
To encourage the adoption of healthy digital behaviors, rewards were distributed to participants who demonstrated their commitment to cybersecurity principles. The event culminated in a recognition ceremony where Captain Issa Al Zaabi was honored by His Excellency Salem Mohammed Bin Huwaidin Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Dhid Club, and Mr. Mahir Obaid Al Khail Al Taniji, Executive Director of the club. This acknowledgment served to appreciate Al Zaabi’s valuable contribution to enhancing digital awareness among participants and reinforcing their informational security in the contemporary digital landscape.
